I'm not sure he will turn out as many seem to suggest.. He has already suffered a torn cartilage at 19 years of age.. At 5ft 11in he is not tall for a centreback and was made to look better by being partnered with Samba.. He would never get into our first team. I would much rather see Kompany partnered with his international colleague, Vertonghen.. I believe all our CB's including Boateng are techinically better, bigger and stronger than Jones..

Sol And Rio have been bemmed by the media since i was about 12 years old. Smalling is okay and gets bummed by the media, Richards got lauded to heaven when he broke through. In all that time Terry is the only other defender to get bummed that much who is white
Back in the day you would have thought Des Walker was better then Bekenbauer and Barresi put together the way he got talked about. (slight exaduration but I remember the media having a hard on for him, espcially when he moved to Italy)
Its a bit rich an Arsenal fan having a go at any defender, Arsenals defense is total dog shit. Dont get me started on your keeper situation either you have by far the worst keepers of any top 10 side and have done for years. Its why you have won nothing for years.
Boatang is quality and will come good in the prem given time. He can also play right back and left back to a decent standard.
Mancini was trying to bed Boatang in with Vinnie before the injuries and it looked promising. Honestly I believe he rates him higher than Lescott and quite possibly K Toure. Hes also the right sort of age.
Lescott has persistent injury problems of his own. K Toure is not available till mid September and wont have played for a while by then.
I think its clear we dont want to sell Boatang unless we have to and if we do it will be for more than we paid for him. Hopefully Cahill was just a fallback, the fact its gone cold / quiet hopefully means it wont happen now and Boatang is staying.

Solid move for United. Jones has looked very good, albeit in a pretty limited sample size. Now United appear to have their CB pairing for the future in place, between Jones and Smalling. And they blocked rivals Arsenal from making the move.
I would've liked to see Jones at City, but Vertonghen is a more accomplished player and may end up costing half of what United paid for Jones -- though his price tag probably just went up, both because of the market price rising and the competition for him between City, Arsenal, and whoever gets involved with Jones off the market.

The ManU media will big up Jones now .. and it's garbage.. he's had a few good games but he was also part of the defence that let in 7 against Man U.. He was out for four months with his cartilage and played about 25 games in total the majority of them in believe in midfield.. I'm pleased we haven't even bothered going in for him.. He's very average.. I agree on Vertonghen a much better player already..
