Phone addiction

A fun pub was gold yesterday. There were five girls dolled up in one booth and a family of three in the next. Every single one of them just scrolled on their phones throughout.

I was sat alone and mine was in my pocket.

My phone is always with me. I even pretend i've got a call to avoid talking to people.

Got a good friend, I like everything about him, but he is literally addicted to his mobile. And he's not a fifteen-year-old — he's in his forties. He can't even be out for a meal with you without him checking his mobile every ten minutes or so. I'm going to have to say something to him like “Sorry, is my company boring you? You only have to say the word and I'll be off.” It would be aggressive, but sometimes people do need a wake-up call.
Drives me round the effing bend…
For more than ten years, I outright refused to own a mobile. I was forced into it by my bank. Something which I intensely resented at the time. Even now, a lot of the time, I forget and leave it at home when I go out.

I have a similar aged friend who is the same. It's never more than an arms reach from him at all times. We were once out, about 8 of us. All of his mates give or take the odd work colleague. All sitting around a round table, outside, mates for years and years, having a few beers, a lot of laughs and he sat there, constantly checking. I have no idea what.

he's also the one who sends completely inappropriate or baffling memes/ pictures/ whatever to our various whatsapp groups. No idea why.
