Phone lights during match

Am I missing summat or was there a lot of mobile phone lights going on at about 70 minutes tonight , I’m sure it’s happened in other CL games this season . There was loads a few years ago when we played Celtic at home , think it was Celtic fans in the City seats at 67 minutes to reference the EC win in 1967 , anyone know why there was any tonight?

Young people doing young people things. Happens at Ed Sheeran type concerts too.

It doesn’t stop us older people wishing there was a Squid Game type sniper to take out every single light out.

Two lads next to me in EL3 were Spanish, but definitely supporting us and cheered our goals. I noticed a Barcelona crest on one of their phones. They were v pleased when Rod came on at half time too.

happens every champions league game, always around the 70th minute mark for some reason.

It started in america then trended, then it was used as a tribute for something, now as it is a thing young people do it appears on cup nights

Started at a Texas A&M football game, apparently, about 6 yrs ago, then did the rounds at college night games.

More recently, clubs did the 70th minute celebration of QEII’s 70 yr reign in the 70th minute.

Now, it seems, some people start it and it seems to make others do it.

On a wet & wild late Autumn night at the Etihad, during dead rubber match, it appears a few people wanted to have a bit of fun.

That’s all I’ve got. Anyone else?

Yeah, who cares. If its adds anything to the night then so what. My 7 year old enjoyed it after being bored to death all game
 
It looks good on TV, it's a weird choice for people to get bent out of shape over.

I swear there are people here who just want us to play on a bog of a pitch in heavy duty cotton jerseys coming out to that fucking awful "Ciiity, Manchester Ciiity" song with absolutely nothing else going on because they endured that torture when they were younger.

Yep more phone torches, selfies with everything, half and half scarves, begging signs, united carrier bags, even a "capo" ...please.
 
I’ll have to listen to the Ian Cheesman podcast and see if they’re moaning about it. The last time I listened they were moaning about the light show and the DJ at a previous champions league game!

Yep - & they’re only real fans if they can say they always invade the pitch when we win a trophy. Phone lights meh
 
As a fan base we are weird as fuck.
In one breathe we have people moaning that there is no atmosphere. In the next they are moaning that people are waving phone torches and complaining about smoke machines. Odd as fuck.

There seemed to be a lot more kids than usual around me last night. People maybe giving a ticket up so there match going pal can take a child maybe?

My young lad enjoyed the laser show, the smoke machine and the torches. Any harm done? None. Helps hook the kids in? Yes maybe.

Its all good. Stop moaning
