'Phone torches last night....

I've no idea who started this off but the first time I saw it wasn't last week against Celtic but when Sheffield Wednesday fans did it last season during a play off game at Hillsborough and I thought it looked class.

If people don't like it, fair enough as they're entitled to their own opinion but I actually think it looks good, especially if thousands are doing it like those Wednesday fans on the Hillsborough Kop last season

well no, but they only started doing it last night because they saw the Celtic fans doing it, so they are copying them.

Most of the stuff that happens at the football is copied from somewhere. Did you complain when we copied the Poznan from Poznan fans, who themselves copied it from another club? Or when we incorporated "Singing aye aye yippee yippee aye" into "If you hate Man United clap your hands" after hearing Sunderland fans sing it at Roker Park in 1990? Or do you just have an issue with this because it's Celtic?

Poznan, phone torches, inflatables, singing, cheering on the team, spilling beer - all just a bit of fun - yet too many people on here are too cool to join in.

No wonder the atmosphere is so fucking shit.

Spot on!

Personally, I think the worst ever excuse I've seen for not singing on here was that we're traditionally fans that do things differently and singing en masse has never been our thing - in other words, we're too cool to sing. Which is rather odd because I've been at loads of City games in years gone by where we've sung throughout a match

I think it was great when people were more fun loving at games, I always kinda remeber some bloke with a glove puppet appear on the kippax or was I dreaming

No wonder we get slated for our atmosphere, week in, week out.

Anytime someone dares do something a bit differentl, there's always a handy majority on here complaining about it.

"Nicking songs off the argies, fuck that"... "copying Celtic now are we?"... "Another Poznan, no chance"

FFS, we might as well copy fans that at least show a bit of passion rather than sitting on their arse for 80 minutes then going home. Have we become the "tourists" that we oh, so despise?

I remember Accrington and Wimbledon fans did it after a floodlight failure along with a "We'll play in the dark" song.

Exactly. Don't you are try anything different to get the snooze fest inside our ground alert.

Celtic are doing this to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 'Lisbon Lions' in 1967 (Season 66/67) 50yrs ago Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup (The team known as the Lisbon lions)

They do it in the 67th minute and sing a tribute song (Champions 67)

I can understand City doing something in the year 2019/2020 to commemorate the 50th year anniversary of their European win in 1970 but seems a little silly to start doing it in 2016/17, a few years too early and a little random.

because it's Celtic, it's not really anywhere near as engaging or as fun as the Poznan, and because I half expect Bray Wyatt's entrance music to hit and Otamendi to start walking round with a lantern (wrestling reference).

when did turning on your phone light become celtics ?. its happened for years at concerts/ american football / soccer. boro have been doing it since red car steel plant might be closing. south american teams do it swell.

barely anyone did it last night anyway.

Is that all true? I haven't noticed you mention it before
