Picadilly radio - Its a goal - ohh No

Granada Soccer Night had more to offer from Elton Welsby's little finger than three fucking hours of Soccer AM, featuring the disturbingly Myra-like drag artist Helen Chamberlain and whichever chirpy nob (s)he's dragged in from her local Foot Locker Am-dram troupe this week, along with some shit indie band nobody gives a fuck about taking crap penalties at a fun fair.

In the 70's it was Andy Peebles who used to present the Saturday football show on Piccadilly and I seem to recall it being on 261AM..... not FM or digital in those days.

Brian Clarke reported on City matches, now following Stockport. The thing that annoyed me most, is that they used to do the 'It's a Goal' or 'Oh No', in the middle of records and you had to wait ages to find out who had scored...... as for Timmy Mallet, I have to confess I am partially responsible for his fame, as I was a regular listener of his evening show in the early 80's..... I even won a signed Moder Romance LP on his Groove Sticker competition (wonder if it's worth owt?)

I confess as well , loved timmy mallet. Timmy on the tranny and all that

i used to go in picadilly radio where the hotel is now and ask for stickers

had 261 all over the house

put some wood on the radio ( brilliant )

steve penk and tim grundy bought a nightclub near where i lived
