Picture ID On The Back Of Your Season Ticket

If you mean scanned for security then surely if you had nefarious intent all you do is buy a season card put your picture on it and way you go. If you mean the entry control at turnstiles then surely this doesn’t take that long I’m afraid your idea has so many flaws in it without any advantages Close the thread

For fuck’s sake don’t give the club this idea. LOADS of City fans give their cards to mates or family for games they can’t attend. I know three lads who share two tickets and they share between them which games they go to because it’s too expensive for each of them to have one each.

Absolutely TERRIBLE idea! Just about the worst I’ve seen on here

I work for Costco Wholesale, which is a member only Wholesale Retailer.

To gain entry into the warehouse you need a membership card with your name and picture of your face on the back of your card.

Before entering the building you have to show your card and the picture of your face on it to a member of staff on the door.

When you join, a picture is taken of your face and printed on the back of the card. You stand against a white board, a small camera is held up, pointed at you, picture taken, card goes in the printer, pops out the other side in a few seconds, done. :-)

Without the card, or a picture of your face on the card, you are not allowed in the warehouse.

It got me thinking.

Perhaps something similar would be a good idea for season ticket holders at City, meaning they wouldn't have to be scanned before entering the stadium. Just a quick show of your season ticket with your face on the back of it to the steward and off you go. It would definitely speed up the queues. Matchday ticket holders could still be scanned.

People could get their picture taken once their season ticket arrives during the pre-season. Those City fans living far away could get their picture taken when they come up for their first match.

The whole process would be pretty easy to set up by the club. Initially it would take a bit of organising, but after that it would be pretty easy to maintain. It certainly doesn't cause Costco any problems, and they have 100,000's of members.

Once your picture is taken, it can be saved on a data base at the club, and printed the following season on to your new season ticket, if you renew again. Easy.

Thoughts.

Having had my wallet (and season ticket) nicked last week after the Swansea game, I can see the benefits from that perspective, I.e. toerag who nicked it can't gain entry. Also a good deterrent for touts. Slightly problematic for fans who can't make a game and want to pass it on to a friend etc. although I believe a paper ticket option exists for these circumstances.

Have you not cancelled the ticket mate and obtained a new one, no chance of them using your ticket and every chance of being pulled at the gate.

The problem of access is not identity it is security checks, this does nothing to improve it.
Scanning your ticket at the gate takes place in an instant, proper facial recognition isore expensive and takes longer as anyone who goes through e passports will know.

I've called and asked for a replacement, to which I was told they're not sending out replacements this late in the season and to go to the ticket office before the match and speak to them there. I assumed they'd cancel the card as part of the process but they didn't explicitly say as much.

So, it's a no then. :-)

Can I just ask.

Do the club turn a blind eye to people sharing their season tickets, And aren't bothered by it, or isn't it supposed to happen?

Not being funny, just interested to know.

I agree for all the reason already quoted. Mine and my son's ticket goes to other supporters when we cannot attend games.
