Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Absolutely right, he's got a brilliant shot from outside the box. But DeBruyne's biggest assets are best used on the counter-attack, the early ball in behind, being direct, exploiting space in-behind teams.

Whereas Silva's best attributes are knitting the team together, keeping possession, finding the eye of the needle pass against a deep-lying, stubborn defence.

Hopefully they both have big parts to play. I'm not saying DeBruyne isn't suited to playing in a Pep team against a deep-lying defence. I'm saying the suggestion that Silva isn't suited to it, is wide of the mark.

Wide of the mark in your opinion....and you're saying KDB isn't suited to that style as you were 'curious' how it works in a deep lying defence.. There's one spot for those two players in our strongest team, personally I go with Kev every day of the week, regardless of high of deep lying defences.... We'll see anyway!!

Well that was fun whilst it lasted.

Ask yourselves, why would City happily brief interest in Laporte, Stones, Gundogan but completely shut down interest in this fella? We'd all like to think it's just a front and it's all happening in the background, but sometimes when the only positivity is from people on a forum it might be best not to get your hopes up.

Obviously, something has got to Di Marzio for him to report it and I hope the denials are wrong because I'd love him here but, people should always be sceptical over what they read on here until the clubs publicly start confirming talks.

Edit: Di Marzio also confirmed we'd signed Falcao. Sometimes, reliable sources get fed junk too.

Agree with much of what you've said apart from the bold, underlined part!! Where have City "completely shut down interest in him"? Surely your not basing that comment on what some local journo's have said.

City could quite easily come out and release an official statement denying any of this, which would make all of your post 100% spot on, if they have done this then I apologise but to my knowledge they haven't and that say's plenty to me.

The big difference is the delivery and threat from range... Mate you seem to take this silva stance as personal, if you're proven right then well done you, I happen to think he's on the decline and unless he's playing deeper will be less useful in what I believe will be our style of play... Nothing to be curious about, for me, KDB is the greater attacking threat!!

Not taking anything personal, mate. Most of the people calling for Silva to be shipped out spend most of their day chatting bollocks and trying to wind people up, I don't take them too seriously. You seem to actually have an idea about football, that's why I'm curious on your stance with Silva.

It's going to be horses for courses next year. We're not going to play the same shape and the same personnel in every game, we're going to change based on the opposition.

As I said to SWP, I'm not suggesting DeBruyne hasn't got a big part to play. I'm sure he'll be very important for us. But this repeated suggestion I keep seeing that Silva isn't going to be suited to playing in a Pep team, is completely wide of the mark in my view. He probably won't play much as a winger in a 433, but if he can get injury free he'll be a very important player for us for a while yet.

They haven't briefed interest in any player.

City have only commented off record on players already being discussed in the public domain, hence they won't rule out Laporte and Stones, but let it be known Pogba and Kroos was not correct.

A bit like asking if we're signing Messi, but nobody has asked it.

Nobody was putting Agbameyang on City up until the leaks yesterday evening.

The positivity is coming from people who were privy to the presence of his reps in Manchester, and the steers coming out of Agbameyang's camp.

Who stands to lose and make the most out of it, that's the current question.

Who leaked the possibility of the transfer, we are lead to believe it was Aubameyangs agent. There has to be a reason this happened. One of the reasons as mentioned could be to alert other clubs especially Real Madrid who Aubameyang apparently see's as his dream club. What do you all think, why do you think it was leaked. It's a strange one.

I think aubas agents have urged us to say its bollocks as they dont want auba to lose a loyalty bonus or some shit.

Gundogan
Fernandinho
Silva

De Bruyne
Aguero
Abameyang

Looks world class but it's missing something. I can't put my finger on it...perhaps a physical presence/ enforcer. I like the guy from Belgium and Roma (can't even attempt to spell his name), he could be our new NDJ

So you think Ric is a wum when he says his entourage were at the CFA?

I didn't say anything remotely like that. In fact, I treat anything transfer related posted on here with scepticism until Ric confirms it, such is my regard for his integrity.

I really hope this is purely a case of smoke and mirrors. It wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last.

Personal opinion is these denials from both club camps are genuine but, I would love to be proven wrong.

No, as I said earlier, I'm not saying KDB isn't suited to playing in a Pep team against a deep-lying defence. I'm saying the suggestion that Silva isn't is ridiculous.

If you look at the relative attributes of each player, if anything, Silva is more suited to playing against a deep line than DeBruyne. And DeBruyne is much more suited to playing on the counter-attack than Silva. That's not saying either can't play against deep or high line.

I disagree there's one spot for the two of them. They'll both play a variety of positions in a variety of systems, sometimes at the same time.
