Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

I do wonder if we have done all the leg work in the deal, to enable a rival club to steal in and pinch him at the death? As others have said we lost out to Hazard in a similar situation.
I know there is the not unreasonable view that you don't pay over the odds for various reasons but I really think if the thought at the club is that a player or certain players are absolutely what Pep wants and what we need then there's little point trying to play hard ball. The market is bonkers these days, we are unlikely to get many bargains, we need to just take the hit and get it done. Dortmund aren't going to give in, they don't need to, if we want him we are more or less going to have to pay what they're asking. Most of the time in the last few years, when we have walked away from deals and tried to get value for money we have ended up just buying shit players. Don't see any sense in that tbh, totally false economy.

I guess we must also take a risk based approach too . Irrespective of what a player costs, thered remains a risk that it might not work out. Throwing in the extra cash, sadly doesn,t take that risk away

He was the player I wanted, more than any other, but nowardays I'm not sure he's good enough & scores enough goals, to merit his 'when it suits' way of performing. Fantastic on his day but needs to score about 20 goals per season to be worth bending over for imo.

Bad attitude. Any self-respecting top player doesn't put in the lazy season he just did.

They obviously trust Pep massively. Of course any signing has the potential to not work out but I just can't see them building our entire future around bringing Pep in and then not going the extra mile to bring in the players he says he wants. I think having a Sinclair, Garcia, Rodwell type window would be a bigger risk than trusting Pep and paying over the odds on the players he thinks will transform us, let's put it that way. Who is to say what players are worth anyway. People still go on and on about Sterling's price tag but now we are led to believe that Troy Deeney is valued at 30 million.

Said it before can you really see Pep Guardiola having inferior players he doesn't want foisted on him. If a player comes in it will be a player Pep has said yes to.

To be honest that's pretty much how I feel too. Sure we lost out to Chelsea, but I'm not sure that we were wrong to hold our position re agents fees.

I detest the fucking leeches. Bring nothing to the table football wise imo other than being conduits / or not for transfer deals, and escalating the costs .

after reading the last 10 pages I'm a bit confused

it looks like some no mark Italian tweeter journo has come out after first saying we were bidding for him and then said that we don't want to pay his wage demands nor his agents demands.

TH says its a bullshit story just to attract attention and no bid (as far as he knows has been made - he has little info on Aubamayang anyway)?

So basically nothing has happened and we haven't made a bid and no one knows if we even will?

Yep. Essentially no-one knows what's going on.
