Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Yeah he isn't worth anywhere near that amount, especially at 27. We could sort out two positions with top quality (for their age) younger players for that money. Plus, he might be able to play wide but he's primarily a striker and Aguero is first choice in that position at a similar age. If we're going to spend that money it would get us Griezmann, who's better, younger and more of a natural wide player while still being able to play centrally if required.

I think the terse comment from Dortmund when we got Gundogen was not in relation to us signing Ilkay. They got a fair price for someone with only 12 months left on his contract. That comment was a dig at us , as I believe we have been talking with Aubam. He loves Madrid but if they are not in for him then we will have no doubt offered him what a player of his calibre deserves. He will be tempted but Dortmund will try and hold onto him. We could have a prolonged KDB situation here.

Fair enough, I admire Navas' workrate but I feel he is, unfortunately, too much of a one trick-pony. I wonder where this leaves Sane? Either way, one can hardly go wrong with the Bundesliga POTY, I just would've thought that there where more pressing areas to address.
Navas is a backup. So a starter is still required. Probably Sane. But

Aubemayang is the wrong target if he truly is one. And our marque target at that.

Can't say I have seen enough of him play to have a firm opinion of him other than the odd highlight. But he has been one of the main forwards for Dortmund for a couple of years and Pep is notorious for analysing his opponents thoroughly and Bayern have probably played Dortmund more than anyone else. I think he will have a pretty shrewd idea of exactly what his qualities, uses and weak points are.
If Pep wants him that's good enough for me.

You have a point there. But .... :)

I think the terse comment was because they are German and think everyone else is beneath them. I know that's a terrible generalisation but every summer it's the same. Before our dealing with the German clubs I had no issues with them or Germans in general now I can't get over their arrogance.

I really don't know if this guy is worth a huge price but he was voted the German League's best player so must be very decent.

Agree with this , and he's just been voted player of the year in Germany.
