As I said it clearly IS relevant. Let me give you 2 scenarios (1) we have a transfer budget of £150M say, and can spend 65M on player (a) and 15M on player (b), meaning an extremely 50M available for player (c) in another position (2) a player costs 65M and is amortised over 5 years and a new manager wants to sell him after a year but can only sell for 20M, then the accounts take a hit of 32M on the sale. You SERIOUSLY do not think these factors are relevant to the supporters of that club?

It means absolutely nothing to us as fans. It clearly might upset the club owner and the accountants but they would have sanctioned the sale therefore must be happy with it

The club transfer policy gives fans of clubs the chance to scream "what a waste of money" at each other that is it

What relavence do the finances of this club have to us as supporters.

I could see Nolito, Sane, Jesus being our plan B's for missing out on this guy..struggling to see us fit all 4 and sterling, Aguaro and Kev in the same squad...would be a nice problem to have but think its more likely to be 2 of Nolito, Sane, Jesus and Aubameyang and not all...

Regarding price - I'm a big believer that if we value him at 60, then pay the 65. Similarly with Sterling, we'd identified what we needed and it not worth falling through for the sake of a few mil

That said, if valuations are miles off then walk away. He's not the only quick player who knows where the net is, I haven't got any suggestions but I'm sure out scouting network can find someone

It's also true. It makes no difference to you and the guys making the decision have a better handle on what they can afford that you or I would.

Not really, although I don't think I know your wife!

He would be signed on a 5 year deal, 5 mil over 5 years isn't much considering the money in football. If we bought someone cheaper, who isn't as good or went without altogether we would harm the team and have to buy next year, when presumably the market price has gone up again

Which is why lay people moaning about the price is irrelevant as they don't have the income and expense breakdowns to hand and therefore cannot know what is too expensive.
 
We should have extra money to spend due to the laporte deal not happening.....i havent heard anything of a back up plan to him and stones was always a target as well so i wonder if the money that was ear marked for laporte will be spent elsewhere??????

Anyone know how it eorks in the ridiculous world of football money...it obviously cannt be as simple as that

knowing Everton they will take the failed Laporte deal into account when calculating any selling fee for Stones. Expect the fee to be about double we were hoping for?

I don't believe that is a cretinous point of view but but it is a limited one. However, what the club decides to pay for one individual player is not worth stressing over. What is important is to use to use the available budget to make the overall changes that the club needs in a window. The club needs to get the payback from its investment in players that its owner(s) want and I for one am happy to let Mansour and his Chinese friends worry about that. All the signs are that City have walked away from Pogba because the deal is too rich and they will do that for Auba if they see a deal from him that way.

This, exactly. If this was any other window It would've been fine to shell out huge amounts on 1 or 2 top class players. But the fact that we have a major rebuilding to do, this doesn't seem like a right step forward.
