Pink Floyd albums..

i watched them at earls court in '94. it was the first gig i ever went to.. pink floyd for a first ever gig :)

i was a bit obsessed with gilmour, i had the same hair as circa pompeii, and played along with the records in my room..

i must have played echoes everyday for about 5,6,7 years. maybe more than once a day when i got a few cans at 'weekend.

good times.

I can relate to this, (apart from the haircut!)

When my ex walked out a couple of years ago, Gilmour and Co., along with my old friend Jack Daniels, helped me through the bad times. Ask my neighbours and they will tell you allllllll about playing Pink Floyd all day long at all hours of the night. Looking back I can't think of a more depressing band to play when you're depressed, perhaps other than Coldplay! I used to listen to Dark side of the Moon and go into a psychotic state of depression, normally JD fuelled and plan revenge! Good job I snapped out of that little episode quick-sharpish!

(Ex, you're a fucking slag, nice one for that

Saw them at Live 8, was there especially for that. Figured I'd only get that one chance, too young to have been there earlier.

Personally I tend to side with Roger Waters even though I could definitely see why Gilmour and co wouldn't. The Final Cut is amazing IMO....love Animals mainly for the Dogs track. As an album though Dark Side Of The Moon has to be the best and most complete. Amazing when it's done live, the PULSE version from '94 is just fantastic. When actually performing DSOTM Waters isn't really needed anyway, but he's done it live in recent years too and sounded amazing as well.

I am green with envy, that was a once in a lifetime. I saw Waters play DSOM in its entirety at the MEN a couple of years back, that was an incredible show but there are times when songs dont sound right sung by Waters and vice versa when Gilmour sings em.

agree with that, they need each other such a pity they split up, IMO Floyd albums without Waters were 2nd rate

Me too - was out of the country at the time. Was obviously the last chance to see them now that RW has gone. Saw them at Wembley in 1976 but wouldn't go to Maine Road coz it wasn't the 'proper' Floyd to me.

Still struggling with this admiration of the Final Cut - to me it was just a hastily put together album of rejects before they finally imploded. Maybe I should give it another chance but I can't help feeling that most of those lauding the album will be the younger ones - the under 40s I would guess.

Im over 50 mate and its been my favourite for years.

I think its the work of genius...pure & simple.

I couldnt imagine anybody writing something more perfect about such a painful event in your life..........no, its not pure rock entertainment, its not sexy, its not headbanging stuff, it doesnt have bells on, but when Im alone with the ipod, late at night, it has the power to bring me to tears, listen again to Southampton Dock and The Gunners Dream...........stunning songwriting.

It sums up for me the pain and futility of war, it makes me think how I would feel if my 2 sons had to go to war and maybe never come back.........what would it be for ?

somehow, it transcends mere music.

Well you can't get a better recommendation than that. I'll have to give it another go. But if I don't like it, I'll come looking for you!

DSOTM my choice and the music from "Live at Pompeii" is unbeatable. Meddle is also cool and our kid had a collecters 24c gold CD of it.
