Pirlo for free?

On a free transfer I would say yes. His experience in Europe particularly would be invaluable. Could replace Vieira in the squad.

Would he be happy to be a fringe player though?

Happy as a fringe player?

Probably at €100k a week.

We need a player that can inject pace into our totally turgid midfield. As masterly he is at passing the ball - something in short supply at Eastlands - we need someone that offers creativity and speed to unlock "park the bus" defences.

I' m talking about midfield players who roam freely on the wing, in the middle and can go past players. Lennon, Nani and so on.
In many ways he is the last player we need.

To those who support the idea of him joining I' love to hear

-- Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:11 am --

Cont.......

What he would do to address the problem that exists. The Q is obviously rhetorical as the answer is nothing.

I agree that we need pace on the wings, but look at spurs/manure (to use the examples that you used, lennon, nani), even the likes of blackpool. they all have a player in the middle who can spray balls around for those speedy wingers to get on the end of: modric/huddlestone, scholes (hopefully he'll be gone soon), and charlie adam. silva is a great passer, but i see him more as a short range passer; great at unlocking defenses, but a different type of passer. barry is supposed to be that, pirlo is that.
