PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Drip feeding details of items already under investigation is as subtle as the old phone tapping caper that Piers and Co really should have been imprisoned for.

If they're essential saying we committed accounting fraud isn't that burden higher?

If I've picked up ProjectRiver and others on this correctly, and apologies if I'm misquoting, the burden of proof is lower in a panel than a court (balance of probabilities Vs beyond reasonable doubt) BUT in allegations of false accounting the cogency of evidence required to reach that balance of probability must be stronger.

Thanks, that's exactly my interruption.

It is strange. I don't know why the Times would want to be associated with such a weak and poorly-sourced story. I can only assume that Matt Lawton is stupid or has questionable motives. You do wonder about the quality control on the Times Sportsdesk. It wouldn't take long to find the earlier story on Google. Perhaps it was just incompetence.
They do have form/previous. Were they not once the laughing stock over the "Hitler Diaries"
