PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Personally, I feel more bullish than I did 8 months as it’s becoming increasingly clear they’re stuck and insufficient evidence.

They’ve got a high bar to jump to as well, statuette of limitations on how far they can go back. If it’s serious fraud they can go as far back as they want, however has any criminal activity gone on here to allow the Premier League to do that. This probably falls down on that straight away.

My view on this. Life is not fair and consistent. Business is not fair and consistent. There is corruption in every country and every walk of life.
Look at our government for example. And Britain supposed to be the yardstick for honesty and doing the right thing.
Rules will have been bent in this case for sure.
It usually comes down to who has the most wealth, power, clout. That’s just how life is.
I expect we will be ok but may have to take an agreed face saving gesture from them.
I Guess what I am trying to say is it won’t come down to who is legally right or wrong. That won’t matter in the end.

Listened to that podcast with Martin Samuel, yes, he does back us up but then agrees with someone else that we are to blame for it all taking so long by holding it all up & using the best lawyers etc etc.
Should we be using the worst lawyers ffs

Yes, we should also apologise to Jordan, Carragher, Sky etc for not serving up an instant coffee legal outcome for them. How inconvenient all this defending ourselves. Should have just done an Everton - look where it got them.
Going to be a real Jarndyce v Jarndyce this one. Buckle up.

I mean we have no idea what evidence the PLs lawyers do or don’t have in hand.

We all hope it’s just an identical retrial of the CAS case, but I struggle to believe that any top chambers would take that on.

Ultimately the team representing the PL are some of the UKs top KC’s, guys earning £m’s per year and who pick and choose their cases, I don’t think for a second they’d be putting themselves and their chambers on the line for that.

Of course it will be hilarious if that’s the case, but these guys won’t want to have to go down to the Garrick Club and explain taking on such a thankless task.

I mean to all intents and purposes, the fine from CAS boiled down to the fact it needn’t have gone that far and cost all that time and money if City had cooperated and killed it at inception, so he does have a point, albeit rather a pyrrhic one. City choose to not engage under legal advice, which is their right and probably the sensible option to avoid fishing trips but it does leave the possibility things could potentially be avoided.

Neville coming out attacking the Premier League in all this explains that someone has actually sat down with him who is clued up on the City side of things to make the penny drop. He had this stance during the shit with Uefa, he wants to be seen as the cleverest person in the room.

That daft **** wouldn’t be the cleverest person in a phone box.

There will be plenty of leaks but they may not be true just like CAS. Many in the media were being leaked how City didn’t stand a chance & UEFA had far more evidence. They made fools of the journalists but the likes of Parry & Gill had inflicted damage on City.

The Everton case was also being leaked clearly but the difference in all these is it’s not the prem or UEFA making the judgement.
They're not leaks though, it's just chancers stating "a source told them". It literally can not be a leak and not true at the same time. That would be misinformation at best, made up bollocks at worst.

Why would it?

A season without City would generate big interest.
City fighting their way back would generate big interest.

As long as exciting things are happening, which they always are, the premier league will remain massively attractive to viewers and advertisers.
Not buying...

Not from me. It was bullshit 8 months ago and it is bullshit now.

I would say there is 0% chance of the PL proving anything of the serious nature they are, as far as we know, alleging given what we already know, even on the relatively low standard of proof they are working under. Chance that they now have proof that UEFA didn't have that will, on the balance of probabilities, have greater weight than the club"s "irrefutable proof"? I would say very low, next to nothing.

And I am pretty sure none of the alleged breaches affect the club's FFP compliance, anyway, even if they are going to open up the Etihad sponsorship again, which would be an extraordinarily strange thing to do. And they would lose, imho.

Nothing that has happened in the last two weeks has changed any of the facts in our case, imo, or my view on the matter.
Spot on!!!
