PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Sly Sports News saying the PL could punish Leicester for failing PL PSR last season, even though they are currently playing in the Championship.

It is Sly Sports News. Bear that in mind.

PS. The replies are hilarious. When are Manchester City going to get punished. Why haven’t Manchester City been punished. 115. Cheats. Are the ‘FA’ scared of City. Blah, blah, blah.

That does not surprise me at all.

Despite a lack of success, they do generate lots of money, and their new stadium has pushed up their income even more. They were not far off Liverpool in their last accounts.

The difference is that they have always been very careful spenders, so it would not shock me if their wages + player amortisation is much lower than any other club that size.
That’s why they haven’t won a trophy in decades.

They must have seen our bus in the video and got confused!

We know roughly what players earn the contract lengths and which players are sold people have done good estimates in the past
We might know that for transfers that have already happened but we don't for transfers that will happen in summer

Debt free or soft loans are not a million miles apart save when the owners want out.
There seems to be quite a few clubs that have owner loans and are charged interest even though the interest doesn’t get paid it just increase debts to creditors.
FFP as we all know is seriously flawed and like any “ target” it drIves behaviours but with it in place it had to be adjusted to factor in inflation. Energy costs alone have hurt us all and when, like Leicester, they use 17 million KwH of energy pa then the significant cost increase of basics should and could easily have been acknowledged
Thanks for reply.
I wonder about the long term effect on United where the interest is simply paid and lost together with the fee to change Glazers pocket money into dollars. No forward buying of dollars just apparently wasteful conversions. Could these have an effect on even United as well as energy ones you describe?

Except that football revenues have been increasing much faster then personal incomes. There really is no excuse to lose more than the permitted level other than the club thinking they would get a fine, not a points deduction. Big mistake, hence the panic now.

No fan of FFP but to say the limits need increasing for the cost of living is just crazy, no? If you support FFP, you have to work to meet it.

Also, soft loans should have an imputed market rate interest for FFP purposes, imo. Put equity in or expect to have punishment for the increased risk to the club.

Based on that comment I can only conclude that you agree with the FFP concept

These pieces attract idiots and morons like moths to a flame. Guaranteed they mention the “FA“ or City’s “Saudi owners”. Some real thick fuckers out there,

Exactly and Scudamore was no different. It’s always been down to the clubs. The difference potentially now is owners that actually want to invest may soon be the majority.
This will hopefully be the case soon. Everton have found to their cost that the Cartel Clubs have little by way of loyalty toward anyone else, & will happily throw their fellow founding member under the team bus in the ultimate pursuit of stopping City.

Newcastle & Villa have also hit a glass ceiling, & the also rans in the league are slowly waking up to the fact if their Premier League places go tits up, that they'll be constrained in trying to invest to return & stay there.

It's incumbent on City to keep hammering this point home until we reach a tipping point of enough PL members saying enough is enough. We want change.

If it's true that the Red Top Mafia & Spuds wanted extra PL voting rights/shares to cement their power, they won't give up without a fight.

However, if they do choose to fight this, I believe all it'll serve to do is accelerate the planned implementation of IREF (The Independent Regulator for English Football).

How can Neville keep making snide remarks that our turnover isn't real? In effect accusing Man City of cooking the books!? It's was on the overlap the fans one! That's 2/3 times now he has accused or mentioned that when talking about clubs revenues he classes his teams as the one that's making the most!
