PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The PL also has its own sponsorship deals. Why should any private firm open its books to a third party which has a track record of leaking sensitive information to the media. It really is madness. Masters is a total moron.

This nonsense is going to act as a huge disincentive to sponsor PL clubs. Firms will look elsewhere if they are going to be subjected to the nonsense being introduced by the PL. F1 and Rugby etc… will all look far more attractive.

This is just wrong.

The clamour to find us guilty is led by the media, but that's not because they hate winners. It's because a clamour to find us guilty generates significantly more revenue than would a clamour to find us innocent.

The media are in it for themselves - for the money.

This works in a number of ways. Self evidently, there is much more engagement in anything that says 'City are guilty' than in the opposite. This is because fans of the most popular teams all want us to be guilty, therefore will engage more actively with anything that reflects that. Every single media outlet with any serious presence has explored the 'City are Guilty' story from numerous angles, and they have all gone down very well with a lot of people who get to read the stories they want to read.

Of course, it is not just a question of what gets clicks. The stories that are planted and leaked, they are done by individuals with their own agenda. What might be in it for the journalists writing this stuff up? Access? Further leaks? Off-the-record briefings? There is a long history of journalism being a two-way-street - you scratch my back etc.

The important point is that this is not some particular quirk of the British people. There are vested interests at work. That is why there is such a clamour to find City guilty.

“Like Julius Caesar, in this world there are not enemies or friends, just interests.”
