Nobody cares about City, have no fans, we are irrelevant, how could any commercial deals we get come close to what Liverpool have?
The reality is that Puma wouldn't be paying us a fortune if they weren't selling jerseys. Chatting to a guy in a sports shop in Spain, he said all the kids want Haaland jerseys, more than Messi, Ronaldo, and a Mo Salah Liverpool jersey didn't come remotely close.
The change since we won the champions league and Haaland signed has been huge. The kids are on TikTok, Instagram, and City are huge (massive even) on those sites.
Independent tracker shows that from September 2022 to September 2023, City added 35.2m social media followers, a 29% increase, Liverpool added 11.6m, a 9% increase.
Also we rank 5th in the world with 156m followers across all platforms, Liverpool are about 20m behind on 136m.
On TikTok City had 111m engagements, Liverpool had 68m.
The next generation are City fans, advertisers understand that. The Liverpool fans you hear squealing are all older generation, they simply can't comprehend how a club with one top division title in 35 years is less popular with kids than the guys who won 6 of the last 7. They can't take it.
Sorry for these boring facts, I know FOCs like me don't really care about social media, but that's where the money is. The future is not in some Liverpool fans reminiscing about beating Crusaders, Trabzonspor, and FC Zurich on route to the "Champions League" final in 1977, or in 1978 when they got a bye in the first round and only played 3 ties (monchengladbach, benfica and Dresden), before beating Brugge in the final, or how they won it in '81 beating OPS, Aberdeen and CSKA Sofia to reach the Semi final. Such a myth, take a serious look at how they won those European Cups, minnow opposition, and they try to claim 6 Champions Leagues....deluded. ( I really don't like Liverpool)...
