In reality, Richard Keys the person, likes City and Pep and hates United but what you see on tv isn’t Richard Keys the person, it’s the character he plays.

Obviously you know him pretty well so I'm happy to take your word for that. Particularly as in my early teens I got to see many of the Coronation Street cast at close quarters.

It was quickly clear that they either played themselves or were totally and utterly different to their on-screen characters. Bill Roache was Ken Barlow and Julie Goodyear was Bet Lynch, whereas Violet Carson and Jean Alexander were completely different to Ena Sharples and Hilda Ogden.
