PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The Everton case is very simple, in that they have posted a loss well in excess of the limit. You can liken it to getting a penalty off the bank for exceeding your overdraft limit. Our case is hugely complex by comparison, it is multiple years and multi jurisdictional, and as we know has only ever been brought because of pressure from the history clubs. There is little or no comparison between the two cases. Everton will still stay up anyway.

I trust our club even if we were relegated which is highly unlikely we would win promotion the next season and conquer the premier league again.

Evidence is another huge part of it.

The evidence against Everton is public and there for all to see, they also admitted guilt (I still think the punishment is harsh and the rules are shite).

The evidence against City hasn't even been established, it is going off of opinions based on leaked, potentially doctored documents. The financial records we are being charged over are public for everyone to see and they are within the FFP rules.

The evidence they have to prove is that we are lying on our financial statements, I don't know how they are going to prove that, especially without access to internal documents (which City aren't obligated to turnover). They've charged us, the burden of proof is on them.

In football terms is it well in excess tho?? If they’d finished a few places higher in a couple of those 3 seasons. They’d have likely passed due to the increase in prize money….

It seems an excessive punishment when such small differing outcomes of a game or two would see them in the clear

Having said all that they did vote for it…. ;)

He's heard what I've been telling the forum all along. That there are essentially just three substantive charges, plus the consequent ones deriving from those three (failure to provide accurate accounts, which then impacts PL cost control rules and UEFA's FFP).

The three are:
  1. Mancini's Al Jazira contract. Red herring and UEFA also knew about it in 2018.
  2. Image rights payments. UEFA knew about this by 2015 & it was resolved.
  3. Sponsorship revenue, probably the Etisalat contract that was time-barred. Again, UEFA knew about that and had agreed there was no issue.
If none of those can be proven then the rest automatically fail.

Multiply that by multiple rules and multiple years to get the magic 115 number.
It’s only fair as well to acknowledge the charges for failing to cooperate, which being more black and white than subjective the club is likely to end up found in breach and incurring at least some sort of punishment which technically could itself be points deducted but of course would most likely be a chunky fine, which City’s executives would have your arm off now for as an end result.

They gave Tottenham a 12 point deduction in 94 so not the biggest ever given out by the Premier League. The reporters are clueless

Granted Spuds was reduced on appeal, like Everton's will be no doubt.
Spurs points deduction was annulled on appeal by Alan Sugar.
I was trying to remember how many and thought it was 12 points.

Everton will get it halved. Be very surprised if they don’t.

Masters is a fucking clown...

I believe that Masters has been used as a puppet by the redshirt clubs ( and possibly others ) in bringing the charges against City due to their jealousy and frustration regarding our success.

He may be stupid, but he is clearly just carrying out the wishes of certain clubs and therefore is not prepared to put his own position ( should he have the will or integrity to do so ) in jepoardy.

An independent Regulator needs to be appointed to take away the power and influence these jealous clubs currently are able to exercise over the PL.
