PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It's been a few weeks since the Tolmie and Prestige Cars tweets that the PL case had collapsed and that both parties were negotiating an exit strategy. In that time there has been absolutely nothing from a mainstream journo saying the same.

It would be a huge scoop for anyone that got it out there first but the fact that no-one else higher up the media food chain has got hold of it leads me to think that it's not actually true..... unfortunately :(
Maybe the evidence against us just isn't there, our lawyers have pulled the accusations apart and both parties( city & the premier league) realise there are no charges to answer. How do the premier league get out of this corner? maybe say to city, OK we will say that there is no concrete evidence and you get off with it because we can't prove anything. City say, that's not enough we want you to state that we have proved our complete innocence and we want you to issue a statement saying we are innocent and have proved it and the only reason that the charges were made is because you were put under pressure by certain clubs to get us for something so we want you to name those clubs in the statement. Maybe they are trying to work on some sort of compromise that both parties could move forward with, maybe for the premier league to say that they were put under pressure from certain clubs but without actually naming those clubs. City don't just want to get "off" with it but want to be completely exonerated of any wrong doing.

Anybody with more knowledge about the case who can have a look at this and see if he makes any valid points or is it just the usual anti city bullshit

This is all very similar to the CAS stuff. It's internal City people talking to internal City people about the importance of keeping paper trails clean. Whenever you include the accounting, the witness statements, or anything else there's no evidence that this money is coming from anywhere other than where the money is coming from, and if they're lying they are committing criminal fraud.

And my interpretation has always been: you're a rich billionaire and you have ties to multiple state run businesses. A) You can use those businesses to illegally channel money into a football club at huge potential risk for your reputation and criminal damage to your closely trusted business partners who would presumably throw you under the bus at first chance to save themselves. Or B) you can gently ask them to legally sponsor a football club that does both parties a decent service (had you heard of Etihad before 2008?). Why do A when B is right there?

it really is quite dramatic. Hope he’s ok. He’s the most important person at the club - even more so than Pep because he’s permanent

Everytime you hear some other club chairman mouthing off about something or other I always think about how we never hear anything from Khaldoon. Gives us a banging interview at the end of every season and just quietly goes about his business. There isn't a finer football chairman and we're lucky to have him steering the ship.
