PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Something needs to leak on this, because I am so fucking sick of reading sensationalist headlines based on "insiders" (including our own, no offense to Stefan), former club officials and ex-players - so much "content" has been and is being generated around this based zero fucking facts. Argh.

So for the rest of us who didn't listen, please tell me when you say that you were impressed by it and he breaks it down well, that it's not the stuff he puts across on X and he was making no assumptions of guilt in the podcast thing?
It’s the same stuff with his absolute confidence of outcome

I am a City fan and I think we will be found innocent, but I also think we have to be balanced.

There is clearly more being discussed in this case then at CAS.

Our lawyers have agreed to the time frame for the hearing, must think that PL evidence must be at least 2 weeks worth, CAS was 1 day.

As to the question is their a whistleblower or significant credible evidence, we won’t know until after this case as it is confidential until we get the written judgement, so I wouldn’t say there is not one.

However, you are right no one has got public and would take a level of professionalism from the PL and red cartel beyond what they have done before, not to be shouting about it in the press.

But they have very good legal representation who will have advised the best way to do it.

There’s nothing wrong with being confident, I genuinely believe as in all cases we are going in on the basis that it is more likely we have not done it and so PL will need to have good evidence.

But until we actually know what they have (and they obviously have something to show as do we). Then we have no assurance.

I somehow think my point has got lost with people saying we have no defence to certain points, that would be very unlikely at this point.
Very good legal representation who will have advised of the best way to perform a stitch up? I'm sure...

Think they will have advised on acting professionally and also that litigation should be handled in good faith.

I’ve always thought a whistleblower who would go on record is the only way PL win this and never heard even a whisper off it.

If they had one Arsenal would know and it would have been in The Times by now.

There is no chance of them turning up unexpected as I doubt any independent panel would allow that kind of ambush.

Pep is our only clue to what’s happening behind the scenes and he is relaxed and confident that “his club” will prevail.

#more than a manager.

So fucking lucky to have pep, txiki and khaldoon.

I still can’t believe what the club has achieved. The memories and destruction of the red clubs has been truly remarkable. A seismic shift no one expected.

Fuck these charges.
Absolutely spot on! If pep had any doubts he’d be glum. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and you’d know straight away from his interviews what was going on. Him saying he loves the club is a huge indicator that he’s being told every is ok. He once said if he’d been lied to he would leave tomorrow and wouldn’t speak to our top brass again. He clearly believes everything he’s seen and been told. He’s going to extend I can feel it! Prepare for red hot piss vapour!!!

Yes it's impossible a whistleblower could turn up unannounced. This will have been run like a High Court trial, which would mean witness statements filed in advance - likely some months in advance.

Exchange of witness statements could have been the first City knew of it, if there was a whistleblower. Which would have been a nasty shock, for sure. It seems unlikely based on what has been briefed, but I guess we'll see.

Of all the public domain comments so far I think Alberto Galassi's is the most significant. But still not something to attach much weight to.

well, to my calculations the hearing is done with around the 18th November, although we may not know the outcome until a good time afterwards, but i would expect leaks and certainly pep extending is as good as it gets, 3 year incoming i think and hope

Who are the Premier League's key stakeholders? The owners of the clubs, the broadcasters, the media, the fans etc etc. In terms of order of priority, it feels like fans are a low priority.

Specifically, I am thinking of the PL rules that insist that some of their internal processes are kept confidential when there is a matter of clear public interest.

Which organisation would announce that their no.1 club is under investigation for 130 breaches and then be unable to provide any form of constructive update for fans?

I understand the need for confidentiality, but total radio silence creates a vacuum and when there is a vacuum people try to fill it with guesses and wild speculation.

Media outlets are making money out of bullshit and lies.

From a fans perspective alone, the Premier League have shown a lack of care with regards to keeping fans informed. In any other industry, this would be seen as dereliction of duty and a total disgrace.

The people that run football, whether it is the PL, UEFA or Fifa, seem to be either self serving politicians or sycophantic types that are only interested in hob knobbing with the powerful and influential.

The PL would be wise to remember that this league would be nothing without the fans.

In recent times, the PL have failed miserably to move the English game forward and instead the game is mired in over regulation, parasitic lawyers, excessive secrecy, conspiracy theories and a total lack of trust in the leadership. In any other industry Richard Masters would have been dismissed for total under performance and for bringing modern football into disrepute.

The sooner these ridiculous legal processes are completed the better.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow. No thanks to the PL. Come on City!

lol this article. Any decent journo should be reading between the lines here. A manager worried about relegation? A manager who wont be here next season?

I'm sure there's obviously so much going on behind the scenes, including potential contract extensions/enhancements (Rodri,Kev,John,Mcatee, Pep himself), the challenge to the unlawful rules etc. I'm thinking it's all cloak and dagger until the 115 hearing is over so not prejudice the case.
Its not a coincidence nothing is being announced in my opinion. Could be wrong but hope not and we all have a happy new year with this nonsense finally quashed.

Hmmm yeah hang on a minute aren’t we getting relegated at the end of the season?

,,,and brazen, self-evident refereeing favouritism and game manipulation.

I'm pretty sure I'm misunderstanding you here, but for someone who repeatedly says we're bang to rights and definitely will be found guilty, you then saying he breaks it down well and you're impressed by what they had to say - are you a bit more persuaded by the arguments of MH than you once were? Has your thoughts on the likelihood of the outcome changed?

I know you've explicitly said they're far too confident of the outcome and naive on certain points, but it's the highest I've seen you "praise" him.

I was just imagining winning the League and FA cup as a 2nd Division side, than winning both again and the Charity Shield and European Cup as a 1st Division side, than winning all these again as a Championship side before we return to the precious PL.

I mean we are known for breaking records no??

All would fit our already famous history that we do not have.
