PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Sorry to put a dampener on things this morning after getting back to winning ways but just thought I’d share this. One of our lot was telling me last night that he heard on Sunday from someone at Anfield
Was this "someone at Anfield" in the City end wearing a Barcelona shirt?

I heard from the Sheik himself (in a dream) that we were totally innocent but that they were going to punish us with reincarnating Alan Ball to take over from Pep. Sorry to bring the optimism down a peg or two, not saying its true but it's what the Sheik said.

Thanks Peter. Apologies if I wasn't clear about who this was and which club they're affiliated to. It wasn't someone from the Liverpool side.

No problem. I thought so but just wanted to be sure.

You only have to look at the last case against the PL where both sides were claiming victory despite the findings and also how would that even work they couldnt prove 50 charges but could prove the other 65, if they had summary evidence that was better for 65 of the charges than the other 50 it would make no sense to pursue the other 50 in the first place.

My speculation has always been that the PL overstretched itself in terms of the breadth of the matters it chose to prosecute. In other words, they've added charges on which the evidence is weak in the hope that they might make some stick, and the sheer number of charges feeds into the media-fed public perception that we must have been cheating on an industrial scale.

I've always wondered whether they might not have been better going after us on a smaller number of matters, focusing only on those. We'll see in the fullness of time whether or not I've been correct in thinking that.

I have said from day one that this has been nothing more than a media smear campaign designed to tarnish our reputation which in respect has worked spectacularly, from a legal standpoint throwing that many charges was always going to be a hiding to nothing, as you say if they had any real notion of going after us legally then it would have been much more prudent to focus on the three big charges but three charges doesnt play well in the media but 115 does and imo this has what this has all been about from day one, from the moment the statement to the media was hastily and incorrectly published right up until now.

Actually, replying to myself I know, but I suppose it is possible that that is what the PL is asking for in it's closing statement.

But looking at it logically, that would mean many things about what the PL think was proven and what was dropped. So many things that I don't have the strength right now. But I could put a case for the PL asking for a 40 point deduction if the most serious allegations weren't proven and some of the less serious ones were. Aim high, settle less, I suppose.

Anyway, I still think it's probably bollocks.
Tend to agree.
Any passed on info is subject to opinion as well as natural change.
We all know what "send reinforcements were going to advance" became at the end of the trenches.
