PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Just for giggles, here's another version. Again, this is NOT a genuine press release, just speculation as to how the PL will try to spin it.

Premier League Statement on Tribunal Verdict in Manchester City Financial Investigation

21 March 2025

The Premier League notes the decision of the independent tribunal to clear Manchester City Football Club of formal breaches relating to 115 alleged violations of the League’s financial rules.

The tribunal, which spent months poring over years of documentation, testimony, and financial records, found that while Manchester City employed an array of deceptive, opaque, and highly contrived financial practices, these fell just short of crossing the line into illegality under the Premier League’s current rulebook.

The League brought this case after uncovering what it believed to be a sustained, calculated campaign by Manchester City to distort their financial position and secure an unfair competitive advantage. While the tribunal could not definitively prove wrongdoing to the legal threshold required, the ruling makes clear that the club’s financial conduct was—at best—deeply questionable and relied on exploiting technical loopholes, vague regulatory language, and offshore structures designed to obscure true sources of funding.

A source close to the League said: “This case confirms what many in football have suspected for years—that Manchester City have treated the rules as optional, the regulators as adversaries, and financial fair play as a puzzle to be gamed rather than a standard to be respected.”

Although no formal sanction will be applied, the findings raise serious concerns about the ethics, transparency, and good faith conduct of one of our member clubs. This is not a vindication of Manchester City’s actions. It is a warning shot for the rest of the footballing world: if a club can behave this way and walk away unpunished, then the rules themselves must be rewritten.

The Premier League is now urgently reviewing its regulatory framework to close the gaps exposed during this process and ensure that financial manipulation—no matter how artfully disguised—cannot be permitted to distort our competition in future.

We will make no further comment at this time.

Any Ancient Romans on here?

Anybody with a chicken going spare?

Just order a meal from your local curry house, you'll be able to read the future for years to come.

I did have, but my mate said you can keep a chicken in the freezer for up to 3 months, I call bullshit, as I put one in the freezer yesterday and the bugger was dead this morning!

Don’t want to be pedantic, but wasn’t it 5 to 5? Sadly I’m old enough to remember! ;)
as i am a FOC
when it started it was 5
then it moved to 5 to 5 for years and years
then it was all over the place until the the end of its run

my brain appears to have saved all the useless info and got rid of anything useful
