Plane crash - Chapecoense FC - Awarded Copa Sudamericana - first game back today. P25

Was only looking at their squad a few days ago after the Palmeiras game to see if I could recognise any players. I remember thinking about the name Alan Ruschel and how difficult the teams name was to pronounce. Tragic news.

Horrible, horrible stuff.

I've developed a serious fear of flying these days and people say "what are the odds?" but they are there.

That crash is going to hurt an awful lot of people.

Don't forget to look both ways when you next cross the road. As has been said previously, you've more chance of being knocked down by a car. Or even a bike on the pavement these days.

But there is a difference. You 'feel' like you have control of that situation - Going down on a plane you have zero control, it's all totally out of you hands in a metal tin up in the sky.

I fly every month, sometimes a number of times on business... if I thought about the "what ifs" I wouldn't be able to do the job... I trust the statistics and in that respect it's safer than driving to the office.....

Very sad when any plane crashes and there are injuries but more so when you can relate to the victims I.e. when they are prominent figures

RIP so sad. Terrible to say it but there was a degree of relief that it wasn't Palmeiras when I'd heard a Brazilian team had crashed.

I've read they were travelling for the first leg of the final of the Copa Sudamerica which is supposedly the equivalent of the Europa League. Why were they playing Atletico Nacional in the final who have already won the Libertadores (equivalent of the Champions League)? How can Atletico Nacional coompete in both, and if they had of gone on to win the Copa Sudamerica who would they have played in the Supercup equivalent?
