Platini just wont go away will he...

The Abu Dhabi group bought City intending to transform them into a major footballing power so as to raise their own profile and prestige. In other words they are paying out cash for advertising. How is that different from a shirt sponsorship? It's essentially the same thing. UEFA aren't going to see it that way, they are out to get City. ManU's business deals are 'natural' income but not City's income from their relationship with the Abu Dhabi group. What a pile of horse manure.

There is going to be a UEFA board to decide on the penalties for each infraction on an individual basis. So that's going to be completely fair! If ManU have too much debt obviously that is not too bad and nothing needs to be done. If City spend too much they are obviously ruining football so no Champions League for you. What a set up! .

Arsenal make a good bit of income from rents from the flats Highbury was converted into. Is this 'legitimate' income in UEFA terms? If so the Sheik could buy a load of rented property and donate it to City to use for extra income. It's probably barred by the regulations. So if you're an Arsenal fan don't get too happy, you could be screwed too.

If I were the Sheik I would take Platini and UEFA to court for unfair discrimination. I reckon it's provable. Anyway the guy who spends the most money on lawyers and appeals usually wins, so no problem there.

so we have 1 more season of accelerated spending left :D, Manure will have to sell Rooney to qualify for CL in 2012. All seems well to me lol.
Maybe we can win a few CL titles while Real Madrid, Barca, Manure, Inter/AC Milan are banned from Europe!!!
Oh......then there will be a break-away euoropean cup.

The only thing this will achieve is a breakaway Champions League.Platini would be cutting his own throat the fkn cupid stunt

Twatini actually thinks he's bigger than the game of football.. He had better tread very carefully..

As a football fan i agree wholeheartedly with Platini's plans.

As a City fan, i most definitely don't.

We need to stop having a victim complex about it, though. There are many clubs in many leagues that would be effected by the changes.

Fuck John Edwards, Platini is the Biggest Douche in the Universe.

-- Thu May 27, 2010 8:39 am --

Who's going to perform the market-testing?

We'll find some way of getting around it, our owner's no mug. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

As been said before, it is easy to get around. Even if he wants to "market test" deals to make sure they're not overly inflated we just make sure that all our sponsorship deals etc.. are in line with the highest in the world.

if we had

2nd largest shirt sponsor deal (different sponsors for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shirt?)
2nd largest match ball sponsor
2nd largest City lottery Prize (match day draw tickets on a bigger scale)
2nd most expensive exec boxes (for the Sheiks business partners, ferrari etc..)

Sponsored pre season tournament with large prize money, Greater Manchester cup by invitation only, Us, Rochdale, Bury and Oldham..winner takes all

Not to mention as we get more successful, marketed well in other countries, stadium expansion we'd be a well run sustainable club.

We need to do the "big" spending before the rules kick in and then like other top clubs just a couple of quality additions, couple of promising youngsters each season.

The business minds at our disposal would run circles around Platini and UEFA

Do these rules of his apply to clubs like Monaco who get very small crowds? All his statements seem to contradict themselves. On the one hand he congratulates Fulham for getting to the europa final despite being a small club, then tries to bring in rules to stop any team with aspiration from breaking the status quo.

Conveniently forgetting that Al Fayed, the owner, has pumped something like £190m into the club over the past few years.

Does Platini seriously think a club goes from the third division with crowds of 5,000 to the Premiership, in the space of five years, NOT being financed all the way?

Hypocritical little toad.

Debt-ridden clubs?! He forgets to mention the most debt ridden club in the whole bloody league!!

The final sentence of that article states that the rags only made a profit because of the Ronaldo sale .....

but Platini clearly has it in for the likes of City , and will almost certainly get his way ......... even if loopholes can be found , he won't be slow in findin' ways in which to close them!

What ever happens we have some of the BEST business brains in the entire world looking after our beloved club. Fuck the french prick, when he played for Juve they were held up financially by fiat so he is a hypocrite of the highest order.

The fucking garlic breath, onion selling, frog leg eating, arrogant, smelly, cheese eating fuckwit.
