Platts Statement On The OS

Puuting aside a moment the fact that the man is at best two-faced,I just wonder about his "credentials" as a coach with the level of players we now have in the squad.

His coaching record is less than spectacular...his managerial record even less so.Has achieved absolutely nothing since he finished playing other than piss City fans off and talking crap as a pundit.
Played with Mancini 20 years ago.
Speaks Italian....and that's about it,really.

I can just see Tevez and co sitting there before the first game of the season thinking "ohh there's that internationaly renowned, coach David fucking Platt."

Several days later...and I still don't get it.

All the top coaches in the world we could have at least tried to appoint...and we get some dick who hasn't worked at a football club day to day for years.

It's like having a monkey driving a spaceship IMO.

I don't like the things he has said about us but I can live with it. I just fear that he is so inept that he is going to fuck things up for us, in what is a massive season. The thought of him coaching our first team players makes me very worried and makes me a feel slightly sick.

i have always, and will alway, stand up for the team i love against anybody who attempts to take the piss.

i never though i would have to do battle against someone who will be handsomely rewarded by my club.

this job will probably change platts opinion in public. but privately he will be no different. as he has proved already to his circle of friends.

I'm glad the mirror ran the story about (quite a lot of) City fans being unhappy with Platt's appointment.

This man has criticised and belittled the club every time Sky have given him a platform to do so. Since the takeover he has become especially critical of our pursuit of ''mercenaries'' well now he has become one.

As soon as he saw the colour of our money he was on board, barely disguising his motives ''I'm joining a club with great resources, a good strategy and good project to really challenge for things'' (money, money, money)

Platt deserved to be reminded of his long standing anti City stance, and I hope he's felt even just a slight bit awkward about being found out as one of those mercenaries he has enjoyed criticising in the past for joining us. However, opinions have been registered now and I think we need to draw a line under it and move on. He's part of our club now if Mancini rates him, then we need to back that decision, its shaping up to be an exciting season and Platt or no Platt thats not going to change. Lets just hope he's a better coach than he was pundit.

I exchanged PM's about this with a well known poster who told me that a new coach was due to arrive soon.

The fact that he didnt mention Platt means he either didnt know or was too ashamed to admit who it was!

Or didn't mention the name knowing the uproar it would cause if it got on the board?.............looking at the reaction he done the right thing! :)

Very possibly.

I still wonder why he is disliked when he had a stand named after him at Maine Road, weird eh!

Ahh my childhood stomping ground. I know it (and the local history) so very, very well.

ever slip in that water gulley?

Ride in the BIG boat round the lake?

Collected newts?

Had an iced cream from the cafe?

Been knocked unconscious by a very large lump of wood thrown by your brother in a vain attempt to get conkers out of a tree?

Ahhhh the memories (and memory loss as it happens).
