Played for City but never should have

How about a manager. Mark Hughes.

He was in that dugout for 18 months but I always used to forget it was him there until he walked from the bench to his technical area. When Sven was in charge - heck even when Pearce was in charge - he looked like City's manager instantly, but Hughes always felt like he'd only taken the job to pay off a debt he owed to the club. Never seemed like he wanted the club itself to do well, looked miserable and rarely wore City colours, then took advantage of the xenophobia in the British media to paint himself as the poor unfortunate victim when Mancini was hired.

A bad move all round. The way he used to bang on after he was sacked about being the man who signed Kompany, Zabaleta, De Jong, and Tevez. He kept leaving Kompany on the bench and when he did play him he played him in midfield, Zabaleta was moved all around the team and was often left out for Sylvinho (?) and Onuoha, De Jong was another player who Hughes seemed to like dropping for "more experienced players" (read: slower players) like Vieira, and Tevez was a club signing who would have come in regardless of who was in charge at that time.

An arsehole who played dismal football.

He was brilliant when he wanted to be. He just didn’t want to be often enough.
I seem to remember at his first press conference he thought he was joining United! He didnt want to leave Madrid either, he was forced out, thinks he’s going old toilet, then turns up at us without a clue where he is.

Not doubting his goalkeeping quality - just never looked right him being in a City shirt having been a rag **** for so long.
Denis Law was a rag for a long time, significantly longer than his two spells at City combined. Yet he was a professional and played for the shirt, just like some of the ex-rags and dippers being mentioned in this thread. And he scored a goal that was very funny and very scary in equal measure, and I'm not referring to the one he scored at St Andrews when seven of us celebrated and upset the locals.

Just a general observation...thread seems to be slowly descending into a path of "bitch about someone you didn't quite like". I think it should be closed.

His first autobiography showed he was quite fond of City but didn’t fancy playing in Div 2. So he narrowly escaped that fate with both clubs.

George Weah came to “Help out a small club”, as he put it. Went on to become president of a small country.

He actually faked injury for the derby at Old Trafford as he didn’t want to get shit from the raggy hordes. A true **** of a man who loves putting snide digs in about our club but was more than happy for his son to come through our academy and begin his professional career.
