Player of the Year 13/14

Silva for me. Goals always gets a player noticed more but Silva is key to the whole way we play. He's chipped in with a few goals and has set up a lot of goals for us. But the key for me is he never goes hiding during a game. He took on Barca by himself at their place whereas Yaya can either be brilliant or a passanger some games.

Can't choose - its like asking which is your favourite child?!

I suppose one way to decide is who is the player we would miss the most in the last 3 games - answer for me is Yaya.

Incidentally, does anybody else find it a bit strange that Vinny is in the Team of the Year, yet Silva isn't ? If I had to choose, I'd drop Vinny and put Merlin in without even needing to think about it. And I rate Vinny, hugely, does it need to be said, but he's had a strange old season.

Much deeper talent pool up front as opposed to CH. They are very few quality CH's in Europe. Hard to argue with Hazard. Would take Silva over Lalana any day of the week and twice on sundays but he's scored more goals and everybody loves Gerrard so no surprise there. All these awards are given based mostly on goals. Score a lot of goals become player of the year. Don't score a lot don't get the credit. Just look at last seasons young player of the year. Welbeck was a finalist despite scoring only 1 goal and Nasty didn't even get considered. Apparently 1 goal as a bit part player is more important than starting every game for the best defensive team in the league.

My mate summed Yaya up on Sunday. We will win the game depending on which Yaya turns up. If he brings his boots he's unplayable. If he brings his slippers, at times he can be liability.

Silva always brings his boots!

I think Yaya will win it because the goals grab the headlines and the attention of the casual fan. But for consistency over the whole season, it should be Silva for me.

The most criminally underrated footballer in Europe. I know he's rated, but I don't think people realise just how good he is. The fact the likes of Sterling and Lallana have got in the team of the year over him is just absolutely baffling.

The best player of the defence splitting pass I have ever seen. It's an absolute privilege to watch him play football. (Yaya's not bad either, mind!)
