Richards 1? Why's that mate, Bit harsh imo.

He was left on his own for most of the game not 1 of the 3 holding midfielders went across to cover him when Bale went at him, There was one ocassion when De Jong helped him out and thats it. Barry did a good job protecting Kolarov and Zabaleta most of the game but nobody really helped Richards.

First game of the season and the same mistakes that he's been making for the last 5 years. Never learns...

Hart - 10 - Was excellent and saved us a point. MOTM
Richards - 5 - Couldn't cope with Bale, will be a performance to forget for Micah.
Kompany - 9 - Made some quality tackles and was comfortable throughout the game.
Toure - 9 - Solid performance by Kolo, looks good next to Kompany.
Kolarov - 6 - First taste of the Premier League and was up against the pace of Lennon. Thought he was doing alright until he got injured.
SWP - 5 - Could've and should've scored. Didn't do much else apart from lose the ball a few times. Certainly not impressive.
Yaya - 6 - Took a while to get into the game but once he did he was much improved. Speed of the game probably surprised him.
De Jong - 8 - Had an unnoticeable, but good game. Broke up Spurs' possesion in the middle so overall pretty good.
Barry - 7 - Typical Barry. Did his job but obviously isn't good on the left midfield/wing.
Silva - 6 - Looked surprised by the speed but that was expected, and has just come back from Mexico. All things considered he did good and will get much, much better in the coming weeks.
Tevez - 6 - Didn't do much but I don't think he is fully match fit yet so no worries.

Ade - 6 - Came on and had a few touches, but didn't have the ball enough to do much really. Nearly created a chance though with his chest.
AJ - 7 - Looked good when he came on despite playing 90 mins for England in midweek.
Zab - 7 - Played on the left but dealt with Lennon quite well and didn't let us down.

Fair assessment here - in the first half the 2 new Liga recruits finally knew the speed of the Premiership but to be fair to both by the second half they seem to know they would not get the same time on the ball.

Now the managers score - 6 - Great decision on Hart but I just felt he should have started with Ade - we seem to have need a focal point. However he did show that he can and willing to change things.<br /><br />-- Sat Aug 14, 2010 5:16 pm --<br /><br />

He's a great talent but showed today he's going to need time to settle.

Far too many stray passes and very lightweight in the 1st half.

He was trying too hard IMO.

I can't believe how low of a rating SWP is getting. He was one of our best players, constantly covering back, constantly looking dangerous when cutting in, sometimes playing up front on his own. Some here are giving him a 3.

I thought the Sun's ratings were bad.

Hart 10 - world class, kept us in the game
Richards 3 - got done every single time, looked slow, misplaced passes and was a total liability.
Kolo 9 - one of his best game ive seen in a city shirt
Kompany 7 - decent game
Kolarov 6 - lacked pace, doesnt look fot yet

Yaya 5 - very slow, easily beaten by lennon and misplaced many passes
De Jong 7 - few good tackles, solid enough game
Barry 7 - held the ball up well at times and tried to get things moving forward

SWP 2 - couldnt beat an egg. no skill, no pace, no end product, had a chance blew it, please sell him
Silva 6 - could tell he has great technical ability but needs to work on his shapness, he wont get time on the ball like he did in spain
Tevez 7 - not the best from carlos, won the ball back nearly every time he lost it and he didnt have much to work with to be fair to him.

Subs:
Zabaleta 6 - didnt do too bad, but im not a great fan
Johnson 5 - good run to win free kick, poor corners
Adebayor - held the ball up well when he came on but too late to mark.

As a whole it wasnt a great performance, we got absolutely battered in the first half, and to be honest, hart was the only player that we had. All the players looked sluggish, unfit and played like strangers. I would have taken a 0-0 draw before the game to be honest, but the performance wasnt great, im sure it will improve though!
