Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

Maybe because am old but I can’t take to any of the players nowadays because I think people and the media gush over them no matter what. When I was growing up the world class tag had to be earned over a period of time but nowadays a player is given i5 after three of four games.
I look at the players last 20 years or so and will never put them on the same footing as the greats from years ago and that’s probably why I think they are all overrated.
I look at Haaland who is great in today’s game at times unstoppable also Saka, there is no way any of them would look as good as they do if they played in a game where they could actually be tackled.

Saka 100%. Couldn’t trap a bag of cement yesterday yet the media team on C4 were labelling him as our star boy and the RW position is his.

Kante for me, I realise this fits exactly into the thread title so may be dismissed but all he does is runs around loads, can't pass or finish HAS to have someone decent next to him yet everyone raves about him as if he's the next coming of Fernandinho.

Pretty sure the useless twat won player of the year at some point aswell, just for running round kicking people, shite

I think the only people who rate Rashford are united fans and people who don't really follow or understand football but just go along with whatever they're told to think by the media and their idiotbox.

Interestingly a Ven Diagram illustrating those two sets of people would look something like this...

O

Does he also give you a heart attack several times a game?
You don't all have to agree with my comment earlier, when I said Ederson but there are so many people on here saying the same names it doesn't quite fit the thread title.

Clealry, by the title of the thread you were all going to disagree with what I said. At least I was brave enough to say it rather than just saying Rashford, Henderson, etc.

That’s completely fair comment, mate.

Beyond clueless.
I'd just rather have a better shot stopper in nets rather than the one whose best with the ball at his feet. I'm old school. Defence should stop the other team scoring. Too much fannying around at the back in modern football. As the thread title suggests

It would be a pretty pointless and shit thread if we all agreed.

Agree with your comments about the thread.

You're getting grief over Ederson because he's a City player and you're also wrong.

Fannying about at the back that has seen us play some of the best football in history whilst winning numerous trophies beyond my wildest dreams.

Oh, for a Peter Reid in charge and some launch ball to the head of Niall Quinn. Heady days indeed. (pun intended).

Personally, I preferred watching us under Stuart Pearce. (that's not true before anyone decides to go off one one).

I take your point. We are the best team on the planet and I appreciate that all the players have their own roles in that, and that Pep knows best.
