He is a good player, just not at our level and does not fit into our system. He never presses the ball and on the rare occasion that he does, he doesnt make a tackle or any attempt to win the ball. Last night and against boro, I felt like he was just a traffic cone wearing a city shirt.

Sort of contradicts your opening five words......

Not his fault. Whoever agreed to buy him is to blame.
And therein lies the crux of the matter. We have been buying shite for 3 years now. The Spanish guys aren't doing a very good job in the purchasing dept. I find it hard to believe that the stated goal is to play possession football and knowing their objective they buy Fernando?

He is just never where he needs to be. He looks shakey because he just doesn’t read the play, consistently arriving where he needed to be just after he needed to be there.

I find it incredible that someone bought to be a DM/anchor man can tackle like he does. Any 50/50 he was in tackle wise last night i had zero confidence hed come out with the ball.

He's shite , never wants the ball , can't run , doesn't put a foot in , can't pass forward , shits himself as soon as a opposing player comes within 5 yards and just panics. Garcia wasn't that good but Fernandos made him look fucking outstanding. I'd consider starting lampard ahead of him

getting a sense a lot of people who were giving him the benefit of the doubt are turning on him after last night. Just hoping we don't replace him with another specialist DM and then play him in a 4-4-2 because the same thing will happen. type of player just doesnt work in our system and style.

THat said, 0 tackles against Barca is awful for a player with his supposed attributes, no matter where he's played

What attributes has he actually got ?
None from what l can see .

He doesn't tackle , he doesn't screen the back four , his first touch is poor and his passing in both weight and selection is terrible .
He just aimlessly jogs around hoping to avoid any responsibility and influence on the game whatsoever .
His little pirouette with the ball that he keeps attempting means he regularly gets caught in possession and dispossessed .

To add insult to injury when we tried to get him on pre-contract in Jan 2014 he signed a new contract with Porto and we had to stump up 12 mil for the useless fucker .
l always try to cut City players a bit of slack but not this twat .

If that is the case then it is down to Pellegrini for persisting with him when he struggles as part of a two man midfield. He didn't have to play him at all last night but chose to.

I am struggling to see why we kept Lampard on for another five months as he hasn't had a sniff since December. Might as well have let him go to New York and saved ourselves the bad publicity that brought. Maybe Lampard's experience would have been useful last night but as part of a 5 in the middle strategy rather than 4.

For me, Fernando isn't good enough full stop whether part of a two a three or a four and that boils down to whoever bought him as I have said before.

I honestly think he's one of the worst players to have played for us, I put him in the bracket of all the crap we had in Division Two.

At least the likes of Jamie Pollock put a bit of a shift in.

He can't tackle, pass or even run. He contributes absolutely nothing to ANY game.

I don't care if he played for Porto, or cost £12m (whoever signed him should look in the mirror) he has been worse than woeful for us and the fact that he started ahead of Fernandinho last night was one of the worst decisions I have ever seen from a manager, it was a disgrace.

Totally agree mate. I posted this in the Pellegrini thread, but think it's probably better off in here.

Previous results with Fernando in a 442:

Stoke at home - lost 1-0
West Ham away - lost 2-1
CSKA away - drew 2-2
CSKA home - lost 2-1
Burley home - drew 2-2
Middlesborough home - lost 2-0
Hull home - drew 1-1

We are consistently garbage when Fernando plays in a 442. How anyone can tell me Pellegrini has learned from this mistake is just completely beyond me.

And if you are looking for a precedent, the last time Fernando and Milner played together in a 442 we got dicked at home 2-0 by Middlesborough.

Not quite sure how to post this video on here from my phone but look at Fernando. He looks so out of his depth here

Many thanks for sharing! This guy is going to cost us unless we get rid:
