Re: Fernando

I loved his last ditch tackles but what really impressed me about him was every time the CB's went across to cover for the full backs he busted a lung to get back and cover the space they left. Players like him are a rare breed and he's already won us points and can see him continuing to do so.

Re: Fernando

I want to see a GIF of him sprinting past VK to get back in time to produce that last ditch block at 1-0

Give it a few weeks and we will be frightening to watch

This guy is going to be a cult figure. Awesome.
I think so too.

I liked the MOTD2 coverage when they talked about the power in the team. And we still have Zab/Sagna, Mangala, Fernndinho and Aguero to come

I think at key moments in games we can raise the intensity of our game to sweep teams aside

Fernando was excellent today, he did all the boring defensive stuff you'd want him to do very well, and that block on the Ayoze shot in the second half was as good as a goal.

As MOTD2 said we've a technically gifted set of players, but we've also got a hugely physical group as well, I'd be surprised if there was another squad in the Premier League who could come close to us when it comes to strength and power. Yaya, Dzeko, Fernando, Kompany, Kolarov, Mangala, Negredo, the size and physicality of those players will be invaluable when it comes to tight, physical battles. That's why Arsenal won't win the league (well, one of the reasons), they're too small, they lack the power to enforce their will on teams. If their pretty passing game isn't working they haven't got anything else use instead.

Re: Fernando

I though Fernando was excellent yesterday and pushed Džeko for MotM.

He's like NdJ with more speed and seemed to adapt to the pace of the game quickly.

He will be an invaluable addition to the squad and I can see all three of him, Dinho and YaYa starting against Candlepool.

Things are looking very good.

I agree with you, yet don't you find ironical that the midget of a team Barcelona was in its prime dominated Europe not so long ago ?

I must have been watching a completely different game. His blocking was great and that’s the only positive I could find. I’m not going to slate him because with time and experience in this league I think he will be a class act, I just think everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves as I would pick Fernandinho over him any day. Probably in a similar giddy way everyone got over Jovetic’s preseason form. He looked weak at times for me but again with experience in this league he will only get better.
We're all entitled to an opinion, even if its completely wrong. :-)

Personally, I can't recall seeing a more complete defensive midfield display since the days of Makelele, and based on what I saw yesterday Fernando would even monster the great man himself. He was simply awesome and our upcoming opposition will be shaking like a shitting dog when they take in his performance considering it was his first competitive match and the rest of the team aren't up to speed yet.
