Player thread: Gael Clichy (2014/15)

Re: Gael Clichy

Been outstanding for a while now. Seems to be benefitting from a run of games.

Re: Gael Clichy

Needs to play every game while in this form, when he's like this he gives a real balance to the team

Re: Gael Clichy

I have been so dismayed at times on this forum, this season,as to the negativity aimed at Gael C.
IMO as a defender, there is NO comparison between him and Alex C. Without doubt GC is by far and and away the better defender who has probably made more tackles, more interceptions and more passes than Alex. However AC has probably been the "better" attacking defender of the two !!
GC has been exceptional over the last 5-6 games and is showing his true credentials as to one of the reasons we bought him for this ridiculous amount of £6.5M.
After Ferno tonight he was without doubt our next Player of the Night.
Well done Gael !!!

This. He's been a difference maker the past few games. He's playing every game (the full 90) and his form seems to only be improving. I've never been much of a fan, but I must say he's been great to watch. I sometimes have to double check if this or that tackle, or if this or that run is actually him.

Re: Gael Clichy

Always make me laugh out fans - I mean, "player gets run of games and begins to turn in top notch performances shocker!!"

Of course they play better when there playing week in and week out.
Of course their going to lose consistency when we start chopping and changing!

I'm not saying that the modern game gives much choice but players coming into form is often a byproduct of a few injuries.

Re: Gael Clichy

I hope Pellers doesn't start 'resting' him now that Aleks is back.

A settled back 4 is all important. Rotate the players in front of them, fine, but the back 4/5 is a unit.
