I'm not sure how some people on this forum manage to get out of bed in the morning. "he loved us and we loved him", jesus christ.

I think he moved to us too young, I think he will turn out a decent defender but letting him go for around 7m was foolish.

It's interesting as well because Stefan Savic is being heavily linked with Dortmund, Chelsea, Barcelona and United, they have all been courting him this season apparently and a bidding war awaits according to reports.

I think you are correct about Savic but Nastasic had an excellent first season. He had some poor games the following year under Pellers but so did everyone else at the start of the season during the transition period. He certainly had less poor games than Demichaelis. If he wants first team football you can understand having to let him go but for only 7 million is ridiculous. For the benefit of that money a season long loan would have been better with a view to challenging for a place over the summer or to yield a more realistic value.

Thought he was decent enough first season but then was found out.

If he was that good surely for £7mil Mancini would have been in for him.

Both Milan clubs made plays for him.

<a class="postlink" href="http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/milan-makes-inquiry-for-nastasic-but-inter-is-ahead-in-the-race/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciome ... -the-race/</a>

(Roma also wanted him last summer but we didn't end up with Benatia so they signed someone else: <a class="postlink" href="http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/roma-asked-manchester-united-for-nastasic-and-money-for-benatia/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciome ... r-benatia/</a>)

But he chose Schalke. Nastasic said here he had offers from Italy and England (West Ham allegedly):

<a class="postlink" href="http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9645919/nastasic-had-other-offers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... her-offers</a>

Perhaps something went on because they could have sent him on loan to Schalke (with no clause to buy for peanuts), putting him back in the spotlight after being frozen out, then let the highest bidder have him in summer.

He has been much better than Matip at Schalke and I bet you Schalke wouldn't accept a penny less than £10m for Matip. Some time in the spotlight playing at a good level can do wonders for a price tag.

But only Schalke took the gamble on him regardless of who stated they were in for him or he stated wanted him.

Hope the lad does well but something doesn't fit right.

That's a bizarre post mate as only one club could sign him. It's a bit like saying only we took the gamble on Zab, Vinny, Dave, Yaya, Hart etc.......

And of course we will sell him to the lowest bidder

I've said it and I'll say it again. Stupid buisness by so-called top buisness men. Anybody who can't see the quality in this player is just not very observant.

Unfortunately we stopped buying quality as well, since long time ago.

Agreed yet still spending quality money. Baffling.

And yet still champions 2 of the last 3 years, and the only team challenging Chelsea this year,
Oh, stop going for glory! We are becoming the sort of club that we all hate. There were so many mistakes in the last 3-4 years that is unreal to me. The way we treated Nastasic makes me question the morality inside the club; Pelle was not even man enough to come out and say that he doesn t need Nastasic any more, kept saying that he was injured. Mangala will never be as good as Nastasic. Never!

Yes, I know, you supported City since before your birth. As I said before, I am not City s biggest fan since my first team is Rapid but I can tell you that I follow them since long time ago, since when Dunne was the captain.
And yes, open your eyes, we are changing to worse.
I remember the days when I couldn t watch the live game on tv and waited until the replay, late in the night, without knowing the final result(it was long time ago when Ball managed to ruin every single action). Those days are gone because I already know how we are going to play. If you cant see this than go on and tell me about how Pelle is stick to the 442, we have a beautiful football and we win titles. Titles are shite to me! Rapid won 3 title since 1923 and it plays with full stadium every game. I am not in for glory. In Rapid we have a say: if you stick with your team just for titles is like you marry an ugly woman just for money. Now, who is the glory hunter, me or you? You blind people!

The truth is that when you largely buy foreign players some will not stay for long. There are many things we as fans are not party to, such as how a player settles into activities away from football. Negrado is a fine example that no matter how much you suit a particular team, or how much you are loved by the fans sometimes you cannot settle. For a young person it is a huge upheaval - ok they all get paid ridiculous amounts of cash but that is only half the story. The ones who settle best are largely family men who have a network of support around them. Nastasic was no doubt a decent prospect but perhaps there were other factors here. I for one hope he does well in his career and hold no grudges to those who bought him and then let him go. As I say what we see is only half the story, and it is easy to cast aspersions on who is to blame for not picking him. The only player who left us and I was cut up about was when we let Bishop go the West Ham - a truly stupid decision by Kendal who wanted to surround himself with Evertonian sycophants! And, I add Bishop was happy as Larry here. Focus on the future boys that is all we can do no matter who plays for our great club.

That last comment will come back to haunt tou. Mark my words

I saw Nastasic play last Saturday for Schalke against Hoffenheim. Didn’t have much to do, but Hoffenheim’s goal was similar to Benzema’s the other night, with Nastasic challenging for the ball with his weight on the wrong foot and being beaten too easily. I remember Alan Hansen making the same point two years ago and being slaughtered by City fans on this forum.

Only time will tell, but ourbest defenders have tended to be the bargains. Too much money speculated on potential rather than proven class, particularly at centre half.

As I posted above. Mangala will prove to be great business for us

I surely hope so! I will have it rather sooner than later. :)

It is extremely unlikely Mangala will spend his career in this league. It is certain he will never prove to be a bargain. Never.
