we are the worst club at selling players in the world.

There is a simple way for the club to prove your statement untrue. Tell us why they have sold him for next to nothing and spunked 5 X that on something worse

Yet another example that the board is not doing the job! Letting Boateng, Tevez, de Jong, Javi Garcia and now Nastasic leave, is beyond my understanding. I remember when Bale was offered to us for about 4 mil pounds and we said no. In the last years we added little to nothing to the squad improvement.

You're making it sound like we turned down the Bale who tearing past defenders and banging them in from every angle from 30 yards.
Bale was offered to everyone for the same money and no one wanted him. At the time, he had never played in a winning Spurs side and was considered something of a Jonah.
Lets not the let the facts get in the way of a good rant though eh?
He was playing LB and he was very good. Good pace, cross and shoot. He was young, british and he had all the opportunities to become an excellent LB.

He was a very good left back, yet Spurs were trying to get rid for £4 mill and there were no takers ? They put him left midfield to cover an injury crisis and found his true position by accident.

Good luck to him.

All the lies about injuries and stubbornness not to even put him on the bench meant the club hindered themselves in negotiations. £7m is peanuts nowadays for a 21 year old, Champions league experienced and Premier League winning defender.

Poor deal but it's done now.

Unfortunately we stopped buying quality as well, since long time ago.

Agreed yet still spending quality money. Baffling.

And yet still champions 2 of the last 3 years, and the only team challenging Chelsea this year,

good look to him. I think he will turn out to be a cracking defender. In the right system. High line pressing is not it. But that's down to the management not the player. This is also incidentally why all our defence is struggling at the moment And not looking terribly comfortable at all.

Thought he was decent enough first season but then was found out.

If he was that good surely for £7mil Mancini would have been in for him.

Or Arsenal, Liverpool, Rags lots of teams in need of a good central defender but there was not queue of bidding war.

Both Milan clubs made plays for him.

<a class="postlink" href="http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/milan-makes-inquiry-for-nastasic-but-inter-is-ahead-in-the-race/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciome ... -the-race/</a>

(Roma also wanted him last summer but we didn't end up with Benatia so they signed someone else: <a class="postlink" href="http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/roma-asked-manchester-united-for-nastasic-and-money-for-benatia/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciome ... r-benatia/</a>)

But he chose Schalke. Nastasic said here he had offers from Italy and England (West Ham allegedly):

<a class="postlink" href="http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9645919/nastasic-had-other-offers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... her-offers</a>

Perhaps something went on because they could have sent him on loan to Schalke (with no clause to buy for peanuts), putting him back in the spotlight after being frozen out, then let the highest bidder have him in summer.

He has been much better than Matip at Schalke and I bet you Schalke wouldn't accept a penny less than £10m for Matip. Some time in the spotlight playing at a good level can do wonders for a price tag.

Hope to play Schalke in the Champions league so we can say goodbye to him properly

He loved city and we loved him, he was the only one who cared when we lost the FA cup final

He was definitely a confidence player and I think the fact that Demichelis was playing instead of him even though he wasn't playing the best could've knocked him and caused him to be a bit shaky

However it's still a crime how we can buy a young player for 12m, see him make a world class debut at the Bernabeau, progress massively and earn a reputation as one of best young defenders in the world with Varane, then don't play him at all and don't even include on the bench against Sheffield Wednesday and then sell him for less than 7m, Schalke must be laughing at us

I still hope him the best and that Schalke treat him the way he deserved.

A very well balanced post LC and the best of luck to the lad.

That just about sums it up.

To sell a player for 7 million, who is aged 21, with his experience to a side which has reached the last 16 of the Champions league is criminal. For that price you would struggle to buy a half decent prospect from the championship. But we have to believe player recruitment and sales is being well managed.

But only Schalke took the gamble on him regardless of who stated they were in for him or he stated wanted him.

Hope the lad does well but something doesn't fit right.
