Player thread: Pablo Zabaleta (2014/15)

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

Whilst I fully understand that an discussion about Zab tends to focus on his heart, passion and commitment, I can't help thinking that we tend to overlook his other substantial qualities.

Just look at him technically; two great feet, excellent control and touch, very comfortable in possession, astute passer, great link- up player, quick and intelligent.

This is a world class defender, a first choice at international level for a country who will be serious contenders at this summer's WC.

Heart and passion? Of course, but so much more.

Well said. He's definitely one of our players who fans of just about any other prem team appreciate and would love in their starting XI. As opposed to players who they would just like; we've got loads of those.

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

The best complement that can be made is the fact that his team mates and the club know his importance. A number of players would have been substituted after a challenge like Wellbeck`s last night. However, the team collectively protected Zabaleta for 20 minutes after the incident. The team played everything down the left, and Navas dropped back to take the ball in positions where you expected "the man" to have been. It may have looked like we dropped off the pace during this period, but as a team they knew a team with Zabaleta on the pitch is more important.

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

Said it for a long while that he is a City legend.

After watching him in last nights match I demand at some point in the appropriate future that there is a statue, street, tree, SOMETHING to recognise the legend!

-- Wed Mar 26, 2014 8:32 pm --
