Player thread: Pablo Zabaleta (2014/15)

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

Has the passion and desire for the club that you want to keep him here in some role after his playing career and its not often you can say that about a player

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

He didn't play that well (didn't have to), probably because if he was mortal his leg would have been in bits, a warrior and a legend.

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

He was actually quite poor in the first half to be honest. He got Kompany a booking because he legged it out if the line and lost a header he was never going to win. He was also out of position two other times as they got down our right side into the box.

He's had two dozen better games this season.

There's a link on Twitter to MEN Article :-

Battered Pablo Zabaleta claimed United should have had TWO red cards for challenges on him in last night’s derby.

The tough-nut City full-back said that Marouane Fellaini should have walked for a blatant elbow, while Danny Welbeck’s reckless lunge was also worthy of a dismissal.

But the limping City hero still summoned a grin and declared: “We need to celebrate – today Manchester is Blue!”

Zabaleta was at the centre of the two controversial incidents, with Fellaini and Welbeck somehow escaping with yellow cards.

And he was convinced that both should have brought marching orders from referee Michael Oliver.

“They were two bad challenges,” he said. “I saw them on TV in the dressing room. The first one was a very dangerous tackle by Welbeck, I was very lucky to be honest because I could have broken my leg.

“The second one was an elbow by Fellaini. It was also a red card but at the end of the day we should respect the referee’s decision.”

Even the knocks he took could not wipe the smile away, but Zabaleta said that the derby joy was mainly for the fans – the players are already looking ahead to Saturday’s trip to Arsenal.

“I said during the week that we have had very good results at Old Trafford recently – last night was another one,” he said. “It’s great that we always enjoy ourselves when we come to their stadium, especially as we know how difficult it is to win here.

“We were the better team and deserved it.

“The way we played as a team was fantastic, with great team spirit. We know this game is so special for the club and the fans, but it is also special for the players.

“Winning was great, especially as we know that with nine games to go in the season we cannot drop points. Everything is in our hands and hopefully we can keep playing this, and winning games.”

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

In my nearly 40 years record-book, this man HAS earned the Legend-status as far as I'm concerned. A top professional, always gives his all, has accomodated perfectly since moving to England, never complaines about the club and his fellowplayers, and doing a great job in the community. Simply a top-pro.

Last night I think Zab got himself severely injured after a wreckless tackle from the headless chicken named Wellbeck. I thought it was amazing Wellbeck stayed on and Zab played on. Zab was clearly hindered by the injury and he cleverly choose not to go on the attack that often. Even a blatant elbow from another numpty rag could not get the man down and out. How Felliaini was able to continue was another clear reminder at Old Shitford there are different rules.

Zab may not have played his best game, he still scored a clear 8 for simply staying on the pitch and dugging in. Simply a top-pro.

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

I honestly didn't think he was going to get up from that assassination attempt from wellbeck last night; the fellaini elbow would hurt, but the wellbeck one was fair worse as it could so easily have broken his leg, filthy swamp dwelling cunts they are
