Player thread: Pablo Zabaleta (2014/15)

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

Love Zaba, but the second challenge was a yellow and so was Costa's reaction, which is what happened. I don't blame the ref. for the second incident. Zaba's first yellow was unfair though.

Re: Pablo Zabaleta Appreciation Thread

No need to apologise Zaba as you have pointed out in your tweet Costa should of walked as well.

Apologised for the red card but said costa should've been sent off for this

Unfortunately Zabba raised his hands first, but the booking was for the tackle and I assume Costa`s for the slight melee.

Can't agree with that. When Zabba raised his hands it was his palms on the chest of Costa to calm him down. Nothing aggressive in his movements, purely defensive. Costa lashed out with a leg and an arm and then grabbed him by the throat.
Costa should have walked, straight red no question.

Have to agree. The wrong person walked for me.

That is so true, and today I wanted to jump on there and argue with the ref because Zab was NOT to blame for that incident and that ref was even worse than Clattenburg was last week. You expect it from Clattenburg but not from Mike Dean.

Plus Zaba deserved that standing ovation and he showed his passion again when he kicked Mourinho's water bottle as he walked off!! :-)

That'll be another match added to the Hull game! It'll be on a loop just like Wenger when he kicked the bottle. I was wondering whether Zab woulda been waiting down the tunnel for CostaCutter? When's the tunnelcam on the OS?
Doesn't the Capital One Cup game count as his suspension?

Yep , he will be available for Hull and would have been rested for SW anyway so no damage done other than a bigger suspension for a second red should he receive one later in the season.

We need a big performance and a win against Hull after 3 games without a win.

Agree with this.

Zaba's sending off could have lost us the game.

Yes, after calming down, I thought it was fair. Remember zaba also had very risky and dangerous challenge on costa right before the one for which he got sent off. Zaba got away with the earlier one but second one, ref was not gonna dismiss it again so soon after.
