Player Thread: Patrick Roberts

I'm sure our club are closely monitoring his situation.Hope it's just fitness although I heard a report the maanger doesn't fancy him.

I'm no Celtic or Rogers fan but nothing can be read into early pre season games. I'd be amazed if he has already made his judgment on Roberts.

I find it weird that his shirt is available for purchase on the new kit. Seems like it was deliberately added with the other "new" names in the categories tab (Guardiola, Nolito, Roberts, Iheanacho, and no-number Gundogan).

Maybe he's not playing because an early recall is imminent??

Very briefly, Roberts showed up as retweeting this tweet -

Still in my timeline ... haven't refreshed yet. Hmm, a tad testy are we, Patrick?
(smart move deleting the retweet, tho)

he was one of celtics best players last year and is so talented. if rodgers doesnt give him a chance he's an idiot ( it is early though )

I had high hopes considering our higher ups rate Rodgers quite highly and Roberts is seemingly the sort of player he'd like. I don't envy the clubs position right now, being played at Celtic regularly by Rodgers will do wonders for his development but having him hang around on the bench considering his talent would be criminal.

You'd have to think they'll need him for the return leg to pick the lock, surely Lincoln will sit back deep and try and hit them on the break?

You'd think so but he's yet to start in pre-season and he made 3 attacking subs last night and neither were Roberts, so I wouldn't count on it.

We made loans to Celtic with the expectation that Deila would develop them. Rogers may prefer to develop Celtic's own players, or he may use his links with other clubs (Mourinho again?) to bring in new players.
