Player Thread: Patrick Roberts

celtic qualified to champions league or no ?!!
They're in the qualifiers for next season which they have to win to get to the group stages. They had to play 3 rounds this season just gone and lost the 3rd one which dumped them into the Europa league.

Edit: their first match was on 15th of July so it's probably going to be an early start again for them.

And this repeats again and again... Would rather see Patrick in EPL or staying at City.

I'm not sure I understand your question? if you mean this season just over they finished as champions (colour me surprised) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table so they're already in the Summer CL qualifiers to try and get in to next seasons group stage (2016-17).
i mean if there is any remainig chance for celtic to qualify to champions league next season or it is officially celtic will play in europe league in the next season ?

They have a chance to qualify for the Champions League in the summer.

Brenda Rodgers new manager at Celtic? How does this bode for Roberts? My first reaction is that it is a very good thing.

I'm happy with that for Roberts.

Rodgers has a good record for trusting young, technical players who are attacking and exciting.

He got the most out of Coutinho, Sterling, etc, and that's positive for Pat.

Technically he's the best player there so it would take an absolute numpty to mess it up for him, I think the manager's fairly immaterial in terms of his playing time there as the board and the fans (especially the fans) won't accept anything but an attacking team.

I agree.

I took the piss out of him & he deserved it for being an arse, but when you look back, he did so much more comparitively in his time at Liverpool than Pellegrini did at City & he got so much more out of players like Sterling. I think he will use Roberts in similar roles to the way Pep would use him. So we will get a good idea if he's 'got it'.

Indeed. I'll be hoping for at least 15 goals in the SPL from Roberts - if he makes around 30+ appearances.

He's another that just needs to raise his fitness levels and become a bit more robust. Once he has those, and also improves his defensive side, he'll be ready made to come into our first team for 2017/2018.

It's exciting that we now have so many 'natural footballers' in our youth squads that are technically excellent and super-talented. The only things they need to improve are things that come with age/experience and first team involvement.

Rodgers going to Celtic is great news for Roberts.

Rodgers is very good at developing young players. Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge and Henderson all improved loads under him at Liverpool.

That's how I see it. They're all already fantastically gifted footballers. It's just experience and physicality they need.

I can't wait to see the u16s step up to u18s next season. Hopefully the core of that team will stay on and keep improving together.
