"I'm feeling more relaxed, but the last few months were very trying for me. Emotionally, I went through several moments of doubt and reassessment. Some of the criticism I got hurt me, and lots of bad things were said.

I said earlier in the thread, he's clearly an "arm around thew shoulder" sort of player. And a lot of his ineffectiveness stems from a refusal to take risks. He may just take those risks given the shot in the arm of a player's manager. Slim chance in my opinion, but it might happen.

It would help if the fans weren't constantly on his case.

There's definitely a lot of dissatisfaction with him in the crowd now at COMS. A lot of this started with the Man United freekick, unfortunately. I don't agree with matchday abuse at all, but it's an unfortunate part of football that players have to learn to live with and use. It's not dreadful for Nasri - I've seen it a thousand times worse with other players. But there's an undercurrent.

This is where the manager earns his spurs: you have a player with destroyed confidence who the crowd have taken a dislike to. Your job is to turn him round. Good managers can do this. It will only take a run of form to reverse this cycle of negativity and many players have done it.

Exactly right, which is why I'm so hopeful for the season ahead. Can't be easy when you're low on confidence and your manager is criticising you publicly, to feel that your own supporters aren't totally behind you. David Silva misplaces a pass and it's 'unlucky David', Nasri does it and it's 'Nasri you fucking wanker'. I get that people are frustrated by Nasri but what they hope to achieve by this God only knows. It's an unpleasant trait in City fans and I'm not surprised someone mentioned Edgehill in this thread. Hardly surprising that Nasri isn't taking risks in football matches really is it? He made a big mistake in the United game, and he has held his hands up and admitted it, but City fans need to move on and back this player, because he's quality.

Totally agree. A start would be to change the embarrassing title of this thread.

Just read his interview. At the end of the day we're all human and fans should really think about what they say about players.

If I was as skilful as him at playing football and if I was paid a huge sum of money for playing the game I love then I'd run through 'walls' and do everything possible to be the best I can be. Nasri hasn't - he has only shown it intermittently.

He has been performing to at least the minimum standard I would expect for a player of his quality since the start of April (Cup Final excepted where he was crap - but I accept that nobody performed well that day). The fact is though - The league was already over! The pressure was off.

Time for Nasri to walk the talk. Actions are required NOT words. If he does the business then I will be delighted.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

There's too many fans at the ground that don't actually want him to succeed at City. All it takes is for him to do one slight error, be it a heavy touch, or lose possession (rare for Nasri) and then thousands are on his back for the rest of the game. It's the same with Dzeko.

He should think himself lucky that he isn't a fullback!

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

samir is more of a central midfielder. his ball retention capabilities are excellent, it is like the ball is glued to his feet. he needs to work on his defensive capabilities though.

as a CAM, LAM or RAM he just isn't good enough.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

The talent is all there. You only need to watch about 5 seconds of him to realise that he's a class player.

The onus is now him to take more of a command in games and become more consistent. The way I see it, our fate this season will hinge a lot on his performances and he'll act kind of like a team barometer - if he's done good for a vast majority of the time, I dare say we'll find ourselves in quite good positions in all comps.
