He's also only had a handful of good games for the club each season and that's the real issue. If he had played great the last 2 years the chicken move vs the rags would have been forgotten. To claim he's being scapegoated makes me think you don't really understand the definition of the word. In modern usage a scapegoat is an individual, group, or country singled out for unmerited negative treatment or blame. He's hardly recieving unmerited negative treatment. The treatment has been merited. He cost us a draw vs the rags. He's underperformed 80% of his time with us.

That kind of proves I do know the definition. He has been afforded all kinds of abuse, when there are players much more deserving of it. Do you agree that people give special treatment to some players?

But how has he not deserved critisism? He's been poor 80% of the time. He's a 25m player who's performed like a 5m player.
That's inaccurate.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

Anyone who brands Nasri as useless is deluded. Nasri is a top top player who hasn't lived up to his potential cause of issues with consistency. He could never be consistent cause of the position he was always being played in. He drifted out of too many games under Mancini. Nasri is a very technically gifted player and if you put him in a position where he can impact he game and give himself some confidence, we'll see a different player. By no means useless, but he will have to up his game now if he wants to get in the team, but I think the competition could do him good. He knew he would get a lot of game time under Mancini, until Mancini finally had enough and stuck Milner in. Now he has to graft to get in he team and maybe we'll see the best of him.

-- Sun Jul 21, 2013 5:22 pm --

Anyone who brands Nasri as useless is deluded. Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

Nasri is without a doubt a very talented player. However, he certainly hasn't live up to expectations, and we can spend all day speculating as to why that is the case. I'm hopeful that the regime change will do wonders for him and we'll see the a rejuvenated Nasri next year. If he has another dissapointing season I think we may look to move him on though.

Still we should all get behind him, he is a blue after all.

Yes, this is where I'm at as well. So far as I stated, he's been one of our bright spots in preseason. Pellegrini has lined him up centrally and he's been very good. Let's hope it's a sign of things to come.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

Not read the whole thread- my take - a Marwood signing - doubt if Mancini really wanted him.

I hope he can find his way under MP. He is a decent player and of the correct "quality" if he can find his Mojo/motivation.

Btw I find Tevez and Clichy equally culpable for the derby goal.

.
The opposite, I'm told. Lots of reservations about him in the "transfer panel" but Mancini was vociferous about his importance. That's why he hardly dropped him.

It shows how far we've come that Nasri is our new edghill

Haha, our money has certainly bought us a superior brand of scapegoat hasn't it? ;). Absolutely no surprise to me, knowing my fellow blues like I do, that the likes of Milner and Zab are hero worshipped, whereas the likes of Nasri, who has more ability in his little toe than both those players, gets dogs abuse. No matter, I'm confident his critics will be eating humble pie this season.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

We all know Nasri has the potential to be a great player. We just hope he knows that himself.

Re: Samir Nasri is NOT useless

I think he will flourish under pellegrini's leadership. He was a great player for arsenal and he has shown signs a few times for us. I have faith in the lad.
