How we are actually debating if Nasri is a good player is completely baffling most teams in Europe would scramble to sign him.

Unbelievable.

The thread title is stupid IMO, there are few City fans who would ever describe Nasri as "useless" in terms of ability, what I and some others would question is his attitude and consistency, especially for most of last season. Not getting on with the manager is no excuse for not applying himself fully on the pitch.

I dont see that I think people just expect too much from him hence the disappointment when he doesn't score a hatrick every week.

You can't play in the premier league with no effort it is impossible.

He'll show his worth under MP.

A few lads I sit with rip Samir to death and he doesn't deserve it.

I remember some of his performances for Arsenal and France.
He'd run freely with the ball, beating man for man, he looked awesome.

We haven't seen this Nasri in a sky blue shirt. He was restricted by Mancini.

Hopefully, he'll be allowed to run with the ball next season.

the op forgot to mention 2 of his uncles dieing as well I assume they were pretty close but he battled on I rate him personally and thought he was pretty good the year before last but he obviously had mental issues last year I.e grief anger etc I think he will be excellent next year I just hope we give him the support he deserves remember his debut 3 assists and a goal v spurs

You can't play in the premier league with no effort it is impossible.

I don't expect too much of him and I don't expect hat tricks. I expect him to do his job as a creative midfielder and to improve us as an attacking unit. 9 times out of 10 he hinders us an attacking unit, making him a liability.

Everyone knows I'm mancini's biggest critic but this 'Mancini hindered him' excuse is laughable. Mancini showed massive favouritism towards him for 18 months, picking him in attacking roles when he didn't deserve it, week after week. Mancini didn't instruct him to be cautious and negative. That's just how he plays most weeks.

I happen to think Mancini impacted negatively on Nasri in more ways than one. He's at his best when he's played in a more central role, and when he's allowed to play with some freedom. Also, I think he's a real confidence player who needs to feel loved to produce his best form. Did he feeled loved by his manager? I think not. Pellegrini will surprise a few on here by making Nasri a pivotal member of the team, and we'll see a totally different player next season imo.

None of the players felt loved Mancini, he aint that type of manager.

IMO it's not lack of confidence just lack of drive. And, because he has no drive he lets his short man syndrome get the better of him. If he had drive he wouldn't be distracted by players doing their job of winding him up.

I like him, he was restricted massively under mancini, in a more attacking free flowing team you'll see just how good he is,

I see the opposite problem for him. Mancini was hugely vocal to the board in his desire to sign nasri, so he favoured him most of the time, selecting him when he didn't deserve it. All managers do that with their own signings, so I can see him having to work a lot harder for his place under pellegrini, on the assumption that he had a lot of input into this season's signings.

This might be a good thing of course. I still wouldn't be surprised if he left though.

I just think that hes an excellent player, when given the confidence by the manager you get performances like chelsea at home when he completely ran the show, I think he'll flourish under Pellegrini

But his character is not like Zabaleta or Kompany. They can take the constant heat, can Nasri?

An excerpt from his interview in May.

SN: Yes, my head is clear, I’m happy in my life. Like I said, I had a really tough year about everything. I lost two members of my family, my uncle and aunt from both sides. I was very close to them. We’re human. If something does not go well in your family, your head is not at the training ground, it’s away somewhere, but you still have to be there because it’s your job. In the last six weeks, yeah, everything is fine. I’m happy, my family is with me a bit more. I’m great in my head and when I’m like that, I can play the football I know.

He overcompensated against Norwich because his pride took a huge plunge in that game against the rags.

I'm a big fan of Samir nasri, the guy will show his stuff and be an amazingly solid player for us.
