Player thread: Samir Nasri (2014/15)

Interesting longish interview in France's L'Equipe with him yesterday. Can't be arsed to translate the whole thing (and anyway I don't have it in front of me any more), but among other comments, he said "Yes, I'm a little git sometimes, I admit it. People can just live with it". Also said that Deschamps hates him and will not select him for French team as long as it's Deschamps' job, and would not even talk to him when he wanted to know why he wasn't going to Brazil, after the great form of last season. He's apparently considered by Deschamps and some team mates to be too close to Ribéry in the dressing room, and they form a sort of intimidating duo for the others (Ribéry always sticks up for him). He was also told by a journo that Lloris went to Deschamps and asked for him not to be selected. Personally I think Sami's a bit naive to take the journo's word on that, before speaking to Lloris directly. Most importantly, he said he feels happy and respected at his (our!) club, and can't quite understand why there's so much hostility to him in France. It doesn't bother him, but it's hard on some members of his family still living in Marseille. Oh, one other thing: Pellegrini said to him, you should be playing for your country, it's not normal that you're not, make it up to the others (players and manager) if you can.

Very insightful, funny to think of Nasri and Ribery putting it over the rest of the national team.

Like I said more chips on his shoulder than a McCain's factory. The reason he wasn't picked was cos he was mouthing off about the France national team and none of the players, management or fans like him anymore and so instead of keeping his mouth shut and letting his football force his way back into the team he gives another interview mouthing off again. He's a hell of a footballer but he just can't let things go and always feels he has to "have his say".

i could not give a shit if the guy is a French fry short of a big mac meal ,or whatever people think of him personaly ,he has been a terrific signing for us, and a big contributer to our success , and as a city fan that's all that matters to me

A very clever and influential player with a football......a bit of a twat with his mouth.

Do your talking on the pitch Samir.....win the title.....then speak with authority and class. Ditto Vincent & Zabby.

Can you blame him for having them on his shoulders when he's been snubbed out of two world cups? How do you know why he wasn't picked for the National team? Before returning to the National team in 2013, Nasri apologized, humbled himself and did exactly what you suggested. He was motm against Australia and was very good against Finland in the world cup qualifiers, but did not produce the same quality against Ukraine in the first leg of the World Cup playoff and was subsequently made a scapegoat when there were others who played worse. He may have difficulties letting things go, but during the whole process of returning to the French National team, at no point were there any signs or hint of bad behavior from Nasri. If anything it seemed like he was beginning to redeem himself in the eyes of the manager until the last game.

It is also hardly a secret that a few players and the Captain Lloris asked for Nasri to be left out. Nasri, allegedly went to ask him about the issue, but Lloris said he did not know anything about it. He allegedly went to see Deschamps, but the manager didn't respond to any of his advances, instead deciding to talk about the decision in the media.

I've never really warmed to Nasri in the way I have other players, but his performances over the last 12 months have won me over. Seems to be showing a bit more fight, and is brilliant on his day. Very rarely loses possession, which is key to the way we play.

Both are muslim if I remember correctly Deschamps is a bellend and is anti Islam.

Nasri has been patient.
It's time Nasri has his day in court.

With respect, that's a pretty outlandish statement!
