Pep could put him in the Alonso role
Could, sure! But more likely than not wouldn't. Silva will most likely play as one of the 2 CMs ahead of the DM. My sense is that it will be Yaya at DM with DeBryune and Silva head of him if he adopts his Barca system, or Yaya and Dihno at DM with one of Silva or DeBryune ahead of them.

Since he tends to favor speed and skill out wide, assuming he doesn't bring in anyone (a silly assumption coz he will) Navas and Sterling are most likely to flank Aguero. Sterling will require considerable work on his possession skills, more so than anyone else. And if he doesn't pick it up quickly, he is the guy the Sane or alike buy, will attempt to replace.

My sense is that Pep will give everyone s chance. Mangala will probably get a year under Pep. The high pressure and ball skill work would probably dibhim lots of good, but I think in the end, lime Dante at Bayern, he'd get moved.

The player I'm most interested to see under Pep is Kolarov. Will he adapt or continue going rogue often?

Anyway, can't wait. There is gonna be lots of wigging out by fans when he doesn't do what they expect. It should be fun.

anyone even remotely contemplating getting rid of Silva should go away and have good boil of their heads. Worse still, mentioning Sterling as a possible successor to Merlin is just ludicrous. Sterling isn't even in the same stratosphere as Silva. Quite simply, he is irreplaceable.

When the sad day arrives for merlin to leave our club.
In my opinion watching City will never be the same again after.
He's quite simply the greatest player I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

World class genius.......

Silva..Kevin..Sterling
.....Delph....Dihno

I think that will work

Only decent passer is Silva.

People used to clamour for a Fernando-Dinho CM partnership until it was shown to be a terrible idea. I don't see much difference with Delph-Dinho. Both partnerships suffer from being extremely limited in terms of passing.

Yaya plays all the time because he's undroppable. We have a crap selection of CMs. I'm sure, if he arrives, completely revamping CM will be Pep's first priority

Silva actually defends well (especially in covering and closing down) and I can see him in the central DM role under Pep in a 3331 formation, getting the ball and twanging it 40 yards to the feet of a City player. More likely to be tge central AM role I know but I just have this feeling.
I admit his height lets him down a bit, but hey if the opposition pushed forward too much they would be chancing death by passing.

I will pass on your goodwill & obviously omit the tripe.

Wa just attempting to answer a question posed. :)

For me I'd like to see Silva playing more in a CM role along side Yaya with Fernando sitting behind them. I think that to control possession in the midfield you have to do it with guys like Silva and Yaya because Fernando and Fernandinho aren't as great passing. I say Fernando sitting behind because I like Dinho's energy but there are times where he mistimes tackles and then the opposition is in on our defence. I think that Fernando would provide a better shield. I would just ask Silva to not wonder up the pitch as much and try to find passes that will play our front 3 in from a deeper position. Silva would have to defend a little more, but it would make the team better. I don't think a CM should always be big and physical. I look at Real Madrid and Modric or Iniesta at Barca who both play in a 4-3-3.

When was it shown to be a terrible idea ?

When we couldn't win a game without Yaya
When we couldn't pass the ball to Silva vs Arsenal
When we got embarrassed vs Boro in the cup

Whenever they played together basically

Only exception that springs to mind was Roma away when we played on the break.

+1

Amazed at how many have said on this forum Dinho-Delph didn't work at Stoke. When it was actually Dinho- Fernando. Then Dinho was subbed off after 55 for Delph. If Delph-Dinho had played at Stoke I feel we wouldn't have had such a bad result.

Not basing it on Stoke, just the attributes of the players.

Fair enough I just get annoyed when people say dinho-delph doesn't work. Some actually tried to argue this when they weren't even on the pitch together. Then said it didn't help second half v Liverpool but we were already trailing at that point. I would just like to see how we fair we dinho delph playing a run of games together both in their correct roles. I admit i don't know how good delph would be attacking wise. I think Dinho has been wasted this season one of the few times we played further forward was Sevilla away and that was his best game.
Would love to see more of this.

People saying they want to see Silva playing CM, instead of CAM need their heads wobbling. He's 30, not 35. He's still the best playmaker in the Prem, if not the world. He has the best killer pass I've ever seen. The guy should be up there scoring and making goals. Not sitting back and spreading passes. Let him do that in 3 or 4 years.

No he doesn't. Why are folks making stuff up? He tries, but he is far from decent at it.
