Agree, however, the people getting excited have every right to bud... KDB has continued where he left off last year from the Bundesliga, he's doing it in a superior league, more excitingly, from the off.... He has the potential to be the best of the lot, this 7 game stance isn't really fair, some have been watching him rip it up for the last 18 months..... For me he'll surpass silva, that's no disrespect to the man, it means one thing... We have another world class player, also in a position we thought we'd struggle to fill long term!!!
Having the potential to be better than Silva is quite a different matter than already surpassing him though mate. Kelechi has the potential to be better than Aguero, but let's wait and see.
De Bruyne was poor last night. He's been poor for long periods of other games too. But he is an incredible finisher, is very direct and has a great eye for the early ball. That's why he ends up with so many assists and goals, because he's always looking to get in behind teams as quickly as possible. It doesn't always work though, and he can frustratingly give away possession recklessly, like he did for their goal last night.
The difference with Silva is that not only is a master creator and specialist at opening up packed defences, he's also a play maker, a dictator of play, someone who runs games and keeps possession. It's like having 2 players in one.
The best example of the gulf in class between the two of them is the Newcastle game. In the first 25 minutes, De Bruyne was in the middle, Silva on the right. City were absolutely appalling. We had no pattern to our play, we were disjointed, KDB was constantly giving the ball away, and we got outplayed by the bottom of the league. On 25 minutes, we shifted them around, and instantly we began to tear Newcastle apart. We went from 1-0 down to winning 6-1. Silva was at the centre of everything, knitted the team together and we absolutely destroyed them. Aguero scored 5, but there were still some that argued Silva should have been MOM, such was his impact on the game.
It's an absolutely huge shout to say De Bruyne will surpass Silva. I hope he does, because it probably means he'll end up being the best player in the world. But he's got a long, long way to go.
