The most worrying thing for me is that he looks like Lescott when on ball.

Wouldn't worry me if he could defend like Joleon!

I think we now know why the very average Sakho is ahead of him in the pecking order for France. We have to accept that he is simply not ready. Having frozen out Nasty, time for a rethink from MP.

He's having a mare.

He certainly is. Won't stop the wishful thinkers trying to tell us what a great prospect he is, how he's a great athlete, etc, etc. At the moment, he looks like a complete waste of money.

I think we can safely wipe away any high expectations whilst he beds in, he is a slow burner whilst he gets to grip. We have seen he is capable and so have our scouts but he looks lost in the tennis-esque nature of premier league football.

He's not, this is his consistent performance. MDM had a nightmare start, but he was consistently good with killer mistakes. Mangala is just a nightmare overall.

Re: Mangala

Can't believe he's getting stick, when everyone else was worse. At the moment our defence looks like he's trying too hard, while no one else is trying at all. Terrible conditions to be coming in to a new team. He needs to calm down, but I can't see that happening while everyone around him keeps making such hideous mistakes

Re: Mangala

I've been cutting him plenty of slack - new league, lack of protection etc - but that was jaw droppingly shit tonight. Wretched in the air, wretched on the deck, sloppy, clueless, cumbersome, uncoordinated, you name it.

Re: Mangala

Worst thing you could possibly do is bench him now. Maybe rest him on Sunday, but we must continue to put our faith in him or he'll lose confidence quickly. He really hasn't played nearly as poorly as some of you try and make it sound. His footballing ability is far better than Lescott's ever was. Those comparisons are mental. He's a young lad being thrown in a team of supposedly WC players who should be in the peak years of their careers. It's a big jump and will take some time. The best and only thing we should do as fans is support him through these difficult time as loudly and proudly as we can. Give him the confidence he needs to be the player we want him to be. If you start making him a scapegoat for our shitty performances it will only make matters worse.
