To all those saying 'he simply has to play' why? Let's turn that question around, does Demichelis 'simply have to be dropped?'

DeMichelis certainly doesn't deserve to be "dropped". However, it's not the 1980s anymore, players can't play every single minute in a 60 game season.

Sometimes you have to start players that are perfect exploit a weakness in an opposing team, sometimes you have to start players who nullify a threat in an opposing team. For me Mangala's pace and strength make him perfect to nullify Chelsea's threat on the break, and Costa's physicality.

That's not a criticism of DeMichelis, just that for this particular game I think Mangala would be the perfect fit.

Re: Mangala

I wouldn't remotely expect him to play today, nor can I see any reason why he should. Demi and Kompany are an established partnership and we're going into a really tough game, why on earth would you throw a player into that? Sheffield Wednesday seems like the obvious game for him to make his debut.

Because Demichelis is playing his 3rd big match in a week at 34/35 and we paid 32 million for Mangala

He's done that plenty of times for us with no problem at all, plus he's only 33. How much we paid for Mangala is irrelevant in how best to sttle him into the team.

Re: Mangala

Big risk throwing him in at the deep end, hopefully Pellers knows best.

Re: Mangala

In fairness at the back the team dosnt need changing but it is weird how he still aint played yet.. Maybe debut is against Sheffield Wednesday.

Talk of a baptism of fire !
I hope he will not get overwhelmed by the importance of what's at stakes.
Good luck lad !
