give the lad a break,at the end of the day he plays for us so like the rest of the players lets get behind them going into a busy but crucial set of fixtures..
True but how many times has Mangala been skinned with simple through balls this season and last. Would love the guy to succeed but he's just not top classGomis could try that a 100 times and he'd probably sky the shot 90 times.
Yeah I wouldnt give up on him just yet.. Savic developed into a good defenderHe needs appropriate guidance at MCFC.
Post dog pics all you want but a defender with a working brain would have stopped that goal.
Oh so you are serious. How disappointing.
So let's run this down then hey.
- The midfielder had absolutely no pressure on him in possession
- Our midfield, whose defensive strategy is entire based on interceptions and forcing the opponents to pass wide, left a completely clear track to pass from their half straight into our 18 yard box
- Our left back had his back to our goal and thus couldn't see any of the play behind him, for some reason.
- Our centre back reacted to the pass before everybody else on the team but as the pass was on the opposite side to where the attacker was couldn't close him.
- The goalkeeper was beaten at his near post despite defensive pressure and a tight angle
IF the left back was actually facing the play and reacting they could and should have gotten to the ball first. He should be expected to be able to do something as simple as "look at the game that you're playing".
IF the centre midfielder wasn't floating around but actually marking space properly then the pass wouldn't have been on in the first place.
IF our pressing game wasn't atrocious then the man in possession wouldn't have had the time to make that pass.
IF our goalkeeper was positioned correctly then he should never be beaten at his near post. That's goalkeeping 101 (thought to be fair it was a monster finish).
Mangala didn't do something world class which was identified a danger from a pass 40 yards away from him and get onto the opposite side of the attacker then take the ball off of him before he had his first touch. If he would have done this it would have been absolutely brilliant.
Instead of focusing on the schoolboy errors all over the pitch, you've decided to focus on something that he reasonably is not expected to win in that situation.

Joe should have done better, so don't put it all on Mangala.Of course it is. A more aware defender would have seen the pass and reacted. Mangala reacts late and curved his run and ended up behind Gomis allowing him a free shot on goal.
