When people talk about "all rounders" Fernandinho is the guy I think of straight away. That sort of label usually gets attached to people like James Milner but I disagree. Fern has pace, strength, passing ability, great work ethic, a dangerous shot and a great ability to out leap those taller than him.

People will moan about the yellow cards because... well people like to moan. But it's a necessary evil. The whole team has become more combative over the last 12 months, even Silva has put in a few reckless tackles in each of the games so far this season. Would you rather we play like Arsenal of a few seasons ago whereby we pass the ball about like artists but crumble like Wensleydale whenever we come up against rough opposition? I say batter the Costa's of this league so that they know that, if they can't beat us the right way, we'll demolish them the other way.

When you're relied upon as the only midfield protection you're going to pick up yellow cards very quickly. This guy covers so much ground it's ridiculous. He has no right to be in the places he constantly gets himself into covering for yaya. It's a testament to his quality and discipline that he gets booked so often yet is hardly ever in danger of being sent off and his game never suffers when on a booking. Without him our midfield completely falls apart, over the last two seasons when he's not been in the side we more often than not end up saying how Yaya has had a bad game when infact he hasn't he just hasn't had Dinho beside him to allow him to be the player he is. Never gets the recognition he deserves. I heard sky say after the chelsea game that this season he's finally beginning to show why City paid 30 million for him. In my eyes that's complete bullshit and he's already shown for 2 seasons why £30 million was a bargain.

If i was Pellegrini, Now that Delph and Fernando are coming back, and looking at the next set of fixtures i'd consider allowing him to pick up a tactical booking or 2 in the next few games, I know having him purposely pick up bookings so early in the season is running the high risk of him reaching 10 or even 15 bookings later on and having a 2/3 match ban but with the rate he's picking them up i reckon he's bang on to be suspended for the Derby.

I thought his reaction to getting booked was very dramatic. I could only watch it from 30 minutes onwards so I thought he got a second booking. Possibly he's now becoming conscious about the bookings he's picking up, or he was just angry at the decision.

Angry at the decision, he clearly won the ball.

The glue of the side.

Links everything together.

Can't believe there were people actually rating Fernando ahead of him last season at times. He's better than Fernando in literally every facet of the game.

On top of it, his smile is made of gold! It shows how much effort he puts in.
